Friday or Sunday Night Wedding?

Christy, on August 23, 2016 at 11:44 PM Posted in Planning 0 63

We would like to do a Friday Night or Sunday Night wedding, which is better? We do have a few out of town guests.

And is a July 7th wedding to close to the 4th of July holiday?

I think it is close to the holiday so rates might go up that weekend for hotels for your guests traveling, but if I were going I would prefer Friday so I can take a long weekend rather than coming back to work Monday morning

As a guest I would rather attend a Friday wedding. I don't really think the 4th would affect it, people will probably do things the weekend before since it's a Tuesday.

Our wedding was a Friday night! We saved a lot of money and I don't think our decline rate reflected the Friday night, we only had about 10 nos out of 160. Agreed with MamaP, Friday is nice because you still have the weekend to recover and don't have to work the next day.

The majority of your guests won't stay late for a Sunday night wedding because they work on Monday. Either Friday or Sunday might mean a higher decline rate for out of town guests who don't want to or can't take a day off work.

I chose a Sunday on Memorial Day weekend. I don't have many out of town guests, though and the hotel I did get a block with gave us a discounted price with the group rate. It was $279 because of the holiday weekend but they discounted rooms in our block to $120, which I thought was fantastic for our area.

Friday - think the Friday after a holiday weekend is fine (its what we are doing Friday after Labor day - we got 80 of 240 as declines - but 38 of those were people who didn't use a plus one or didnt bring their kids.)

IF you do a holiday weekend wedding - you have to go ALL out. I personally hate them because summer holiday weekends I have standing plans - I am going to have to miss to attend and your wedding be top notch or I'll be disappointed I am no at the lake.

I've attended a Friday and Sunday wedding and Friday was definitely a lot better. Sunday felt strange because people left early and some only attended the ceremony and then left.

We're getting married on a Sunday just as a personal choice. We have very little OOT guests and our date is the week before Christmas so kids are out for winter break and most family takes time off so few will go to work on Monday.

We are getting married on a Sunday. I actually prefer Sunday weddings as a guest personally because that way I don't have to worry about work that day. We're only having a reception till 10 p.m. we understand that people have to work the next morning and that's fine but in our experience Sunday weddings are better than Fridays because a lot of people prefer to take off Monday anyways and it just works better for our guests since the majority of them would be traveling.

We are having a Sunday wedding because we saved over $2000 on our venue. I understand that people might not want to stay late since they will have work the next day. Which is okay with us. We aren't big on partying or drinking, so come 10 p.m we are ready for bed lol

We're getting married on a Friday, besides loving my date I think it's great way to start the wknd for not only us but our guests too. Either way you choose, you can't go wrong! Congrats and good luck

Friday, everyone likes to start the weekend early. By Sunday everyone is dreading work the next day and night not be in the mood (or able) to stay out late and party

We discussed the same thing. People can go into work hungover on Monday, or take the day off. Not everyone can get the day off or off early on Friday. Also around here traffic can get bad on Fridays.

We actually wanted July 7th but 7/7/17 was so popular our favorite venues were booked. Friday evening might be easier then Sunday because most people will be worried about getting home and getting ready for work the next day.

If you have it on a Friday local people would most likely HAVE to take that day off or at least leave early. If you have it on a Sunday a lot of people will have that day off anyway and they can choose if they want to take Monday off.
