Friday or Sunday Night Wedding?

We would like to do a Friday Night or Sunday Night wedding, which is better? We do have a few out of town guests. And is a July 7th wedding to close to the 4th of July holiday?

I'm in the minority here, but I prefer Sunday weddings. A Friday wedding would require me to take time off work, or leave early, rush to get dressed, then hit traffic. A Sunday wedding a bit earlier in the day is ideal to me. We had a Sunday brunch wedding. This past Sunday, I was at a wedding from 2-6 pm. If you do Sunday, just don't make it go too late because people will leave early.

Friday night wedding? Fun! Sunday brunch wedding? Delicious! Sunday afternoon wedding? I can swing that. Sunday night wedding? Wow, thanks for being so inconsiderate of my life, like @VeganBridezilla who thinks it's cool for guests to jeopardize their jobs by going to work hungover because they're just so excited about her wedding.

My wedding is on a Sunday but it's also Columbus Day weekend so a lot of people have that Monday off. ETA: My reception will also be over at 8pm so people can either go home or go out with us afterwards to continue partying.

Friday. I've been to Sunday evening weddings and the next day is brutal, especially for OOT guests.

Unpopular opinion but I actually prefer a Sunday wedding. I'm not sure how many college students you have invited but some have classes and others do go to campus to catch up on homework or tutoring. For me, Friday is my homework day because the deadlines to have it in is usually Saturday at midnight.

I'm doing a Friday night wedding out of town so everyone can come to the beach for the weekend for my wedding! And mine is on the 7th. I think it's great because you can take off that whole week to celebrate both holidays

Vegan, it's probably easier to get off of work early on a Friday than to go to work hungover or not go at all on a Monday. You're so thoughtful of your guests' jobs and responsibilities.

I prefer Friday. And I don't think July 7th is too close to July 4th. I got married on July 3rd.

I would prefer a Sunday. I would have to take off work or take a half day on Friday. I would probably stay the same amount of time on a Sunday.

We do Fridays and Sundays almost every week in season, and in the summer, we do a LOT of Thursdays too. I have not noticed a significant rate of declines (yes, I do keep track of their count from our initial meeting vs our final meeting).

The bottom line? You can't please everyone. There are plenty of people who work on Saturdays, who already have Mondays off. There are people who would love the opportunity to spend a holiday week off and have a wedding in the middle; there are people who will whine if you schedule your wedding on their favorite team's big game.

Pick a date, invite who you're going to invite, treat them well, and call it a wedding.

I can tell you that I am attending a Friday night wedding directly after Labor Day weekend and I'm absolutely pissed about it. But I would rather go enjoy myself on a Friday than a Sunday night.

There's always that one person who is like "fuck my guests, I do what I want."

Ours is Sunday night, July 16. But most of our friends are either taking Monday off or don't work in office jobs.

Friday weddings are a huge pain in the butt, and you need to take time off anyway.

I've been to several Sunday weddings, but have never been to a Friday wedding. I was an OOT guess at all of these Sunday weddings.

Honestly I didn't mind the ones that started on the earlier side as we could potentially work it out to drive home that night if we wanted to avoid missing work the best day. The ones that started in the late afternoon were more difficult. We knew if we went and the wedding started at 4pm, that we had to take the next day off.

That being said, as an OOT guest, I think I'd prefer a Sunday wedding that started before 2pm.

We are doing a Friday wedding and it will not be a problem for most guests to get off work. Also, We have a lot of our of town family and this will give them the chance to spend a weekend with us before returning home!

My family goes out of town for the 4th every year and I know a lot of others do as well. So if this is for 2017 a lot of people might be out of town. Also, because it falls in the same week as the 4th then that might cause prices of things to rise.

It really depends on the time of the wedding. I would not be able to go to a Friday wedding if it was during work hours because I am new at my job and wouldn't want to take off yet. A Sunday wedding would work for me though. You know your guests though. Whatever you think works best for them. Smiley smile

We are having a Sunday wedding too. My whole family and most of my friends have to fly in so they are making a mini vacation out of it. Our thought was guests who lived close by would prefer to take Monday off of work if they had to
