Friday or saturday wedding?!

Bridget, on October 2, 2017 at 4:46 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 55

Hey all I need your help!

My FH doesnt care which day we go with and i'm having some trouble! We finally found our venue! we put down the deposit on wednesday, but the venue is 3500 itself for friday or 4500 for saturday. Im leaning towards the friday for the $1000 but we will have a lot of out of town guests so for them im thinking saturdays. What do you all think?

I'm having a Friday wedding and my guests have given me positive feedback because they prefer having the weekend to relax.

If guests are out of town and work a traditional schedule it would be nice to do a Saturday. Otherwise you're asking them to take off potentially two vacation days from work for your wedding vs one or none at all.

Is your bridal party local? Would they have a hard time making a Thursday rehearsal?

I sent our my STDs early for my OOT guests since I had a Friday wedding. I'm sure that if you give advanced notice they should be able to take time off if they so choose. Many of my guests made it a long weekend and took the entire day off to prep and relax before the wedding.

I'm having a Friday wedding at 4:00pm. We invited 160 people and we have 140 coming. We have quite a few people from out of town coming. No one seemed to mind that it was a Friday. A lot of people were understanding that it was so much cheaper to have a Friday wedding.

Send out save the dates and word of mouth people will have time to prepare to take off from work and travel for a Friday wedding.

If you can afford the extra 1000 I think Satuday is the best choice for guests

If you can afford it, Saturday tends to be more convenient for guests. If you can't afford it (or at least it would really stress the budget) then most people will understand.

It seems you have plenty of time notice. I chose a Friday night wedding which i also got good feedback from the guests that they prefer it that way.

I've had a lot of positive and negative feedback for my Friday wedding. It was more like 5k cheaper for my venue. But not only that I got discounts on all my other vendors for having a Friday wedding so you'll ultimately end up saving more than that 1k. People who want to come will be there and that's all that matters. It's your day so do what you want to do!

I would do a Friday wedding since you're saving a lot. And if you give guests enough notice they'll either come or decline. If you have a lot of VIPs that wouldn't be able to come Friday I'd rethink that decision though.

@Kate bridal party is all local! I haven't asked anyone yet, I plan on doing that next year just because we don't plan on getting married until 2019 but Im also thinking flight wise it may be cheaper for people coming from out of town to get here that thursday instead of friday.

We are having a Friday wedding and lots of positive feed back from family and friends. All of my family is traveling and they all plan to be here. If they have enough notice you should be good!

Ours was half the price for a Friday... so Friday it is! All my guests are out of town, and have been given notice. If they can't make it, that's totally fine with me and I understand.

ETA: my VIPs would have come even if it was a Tuesday at 3:00am, and I decided that was the most important thing.

I have OOT guests as well as local and they all preferred Friday weddings so they have the weekend to visit friends/family and still have their weekend

I think this is "know your crowd" situation. My siblings both had Friday weddings, and had a high acceptance rate. It's definitely a money saver! If the majority of your guests have to travel and have a typical M-F schedule, that may be something to consider. Many people don't have the M-F work schedule, though, so I would say it depends on your crowd. I would check with your VIPs, and if they have no issue with Friday, then I say go for it :-)

    Friday is perfectly fine.

My sister got married on a Tuesday in Key West. I thought it was the most inconvenient thing ever. She chose that date hoping for a smaller attendance rate. She ended up having 43 guests (about 30 more than she anticipated). My point is that the people who want to be there, will be there.

I am having a Thursday wedding cause it's crazy cheaper, so I would say Friday. If people really want to be there, they will take time off.
