Fourth pregnancy test: Second line is too faint. Now I'm worried.

LC, on June 2, 2011 at 12:38 PM Posted in Married Life 0 52

My boobs are still very sore. It has been a week since I took the other 3 tests, that showed 2 strong red bars. Lately I have been feeling well, no more cramps, just mild discomfort on my right side, but no nausea. So I had an extra pregnancy test and now the 2nd bar took longer to appear. I can still see it but its not as bold as the other 3 i took last week. I am worried. I am scheduling a doctors appointment now. What's going on? I havent been spotting at all.

I would go to the dr. And from what I heard when I first found out I was expecting is that their is no such thing as a false positive. You either have the pregnancy hormone or you don't. But calling the dr will give you peace of mind. Hope everything goes well for you!!!

I would CALL the doctor first. Ask his opinion on the tests, then based on his answers you can decide to make an appt or not. Trust me...having to pay for a pregnancy out of pocket is going to cost you THOUSANDSSSSSSSSS of dollars. If it is not necessary then I would wait till the 30 day mark. Call the doc 1st just to give you some peace of mind. And...yes I think you are still pregnant. Don't let the faint line freak you out too bad.

Don't worry about it.. like the other girls said, could be a faulty test or maybe at this time of day your hormone levels aren't AS high.. Just keep an eye out for bleeding, but don't stress about it because stress is not good for the baby.. just relax and keep your eyes on the signs..

If you start to cramp badly or begin bleeding, that's when I would check in with the doctor again.. If you go now, they will check your hormone levels and they'll check it again later to compare to make sure they are staying up there.. Good luck and keep us posted.

Also if you are worried about insurance but still want to know, you can go down to your local planned parenthood to get a pregnancy test and exam. I believe they offer sliding scale fees depending what you can afford.

Oh, whatever you do, avoid the emergency room.

    1) the doctors will not likely be able to give you a solid answer to the condition of your baby, pregnancy is a monitored process.. it relies on time and symptoms.

2)They won't be able to do anything to help you, especially without any major signs (like bleeding or terrible cramping) or unless you need to have some emergency procedure, but they can't do more than blood tests or ultra sound and that won't likely determine what your baby is going to do next, so see a regular doctor and follow the check ups. You don't need a $1600 bill over a little worry..

Most important, remember and accept that you do not have control over anything with this pregnancy, you can only do your best to stay healthy and calm for this baby. The rest is in God's hands so don't worry too much.

I thought about waiting Nicole, but I think once I find out everything is ok I will be able to relax. I am one of those persons that worry too much and that wont help my little pea. His/her life is worth more than thousands of dollars. I just want to see my embryo developing well. Thank you for the advice ladies. Smiley smile

Well, a second line is a second line, regardless of how dark it is. At what time of the day did you take the test? If it was later in the day, that could explain the fainter 2nd line. But if you're still worried about it, make an appointment of call.

@Jen L. :Thank you! Thank God I found a good OBGYN, according to her credentials and reviews, very experienced, no referral needed. I have no copay, which is great. So the appointment is set for Monday. I will try to relax until then. For now, I will just trust God that everything will be fine. I think an ultrasound will give me piece of mind because I need to know its growing where it should be growing. I have an aunt that lost both her fallopian tubes due to 2 tubal pregancies.

I second what FMS said, a second line is a second line, if you didn't have enough of the HCG (I think that's the name of hormone) that second line wouldn't show up at all. I also second what everyone else said, go to the doctor if your still worried.

This site might ease your mind. It explains how the test actually work and the different things that can affect the results, like how diluded your urine is. If you go in, the only way they can tell if your HCG levels are dropping is through a blood test and that can cost a pretty penny without insurance.

Make a appointment with Planned Parenthood to confirm your pregnancy. There is false negatives BUT no false positives. You know what was interesting? Back in mid April, I took a pregnancy test and it was negative. We left home to do errands and my husband was like whoa babe check this out. He showed me the test result that became positive. I felt it was a sign from God to tell me to get ready lol even the result was too late. A week later, it was positive. I am sure you are fine Smiley smile You could always see Planned Parenthood to not spend any money

What time of day did you take this test? HPT results will vary widely by urine concentration, which is why they typically recommend testing with first morning urine only; after that, there are a ton of factors that could dilute your urine, and if you didn't hold it AT LEAST three hours (and it should be more like four) before testing, forget it.

HPTs also come in different dye lots, so one test may show a much darker line than another even if you test them on the same urine.

And as far as the symptoms go, they tend to come and go quite a bit in early pregnancy. You shouldn't take their temporary absence as a bad sign.

I agree with Cabell, that is how I got positive when I took it right after I woke up.

That happened to me with my first child! I has numerous test and pap smears but everyone said not pregnant. Then 3 months after my period was missing and hadn't shown up I had a asthma attack. When I went to the ER they asked about my period and I told them the story. They did a urine test and it finally showed my up. Just be patient and trust your body. If all else fails ask for a sonogram.

I can tell DH about going to planned parenthood but i kow he will say no. He hates that place for...what they do and stand for.

The first three tests I took at the middle of the day, so the urine was already diluted, yet results showed in least than 30 seconds. This one took about 1 minute to show and the second line is faint but its there. I took it around lunch time so the urine was also diluted. All four tests were from the same brand. I already have an appointment with the OBGYN on Monday, for peace of mind. I will keep you all posted. Thank for your kind words. Smiley winking They are very helpful.

What PP primarily does is provide healthcare to people who need it, like you. I hope that your doc's appointment shows no problems.

Even taking all of them in the middle of the day, a lot happens from waking up on. You can't rely on your urine being the same concentration every day by that time.

I agree that a second line is a second line. That many positive tests? You're pregnant!
