Foundation for wedding day

Mel, on May 24, 2019 at 4:42 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 6
I do not wear foundation or concealer ever, I don’t even own any but I would like to know the best foundations for the wedding day.

I have normal to oily skin, mainly on my forehead. I also do have dark circles under my eyes which I’m super self conscious about so I’m looking for something that is going to completely cover those as well.

Ive heard to stay away from anything with SPF in it? Not sure if liquid is better or stick or powder? Also I will spend whatever I have to If it’s long lasting and looks natural! I am having my makeup done by a professional but I would like to use something that is 100% perfect for the day of

thanks in advanced!
Melissa

If a professional is doing your makeup, trust them to use the right products. Definitely do a trial and see how that wears during the day. Personally, I have finicky combination skin and I've tried a lot of foundations from Sephora and Ulta. My favorites are drugstore brands. I mix Maybelline Fit Me Dewy and Elf Photo Focus (I think that's what it's called), and if I use a primer and a translucent powder to set, and a setting spray, I get beautiful all day wear. It's layering all those products together, really, along with good skincare, that are going to make the lasting power. For concealer, everyone raves about Tarte Shape Tape for coverage. I really like Colourpop's concealer, though.

Since you're going to a professional, you will probably have a makeup trial before your wedding day so that they can color match your foundation and figure out what kind of look you want and the products they need to use to achieve it. A lot of professionals use airbrush, but it depends on what you want. Have you booked with a specific makeup artist yet? You likely don't need to purchase anything, they will almost certainly have everything on hand to help you look your best.

If you're concerned and want to test things ahead of time to see what you like, it would be worth your time to go into a Sephora and talk with some of the consultants there. You can book services with them to have them do a full face of makeup, or just walk in and get them to help you choose the foundation that is right for your skin and your needs. I hope this helps!

    Hi Mel Smiley smile

Would you be more comfortable finding and bringing your own foundation to the makeup artist? If so, I would also recommend you visit a store like Sephora or Ulta Beauty and ask an attendant to help you find a foundation suited to your skin type.

Jennifer is right also about all the other pieces of the puzzle which makes your foundation last longer including a good primer, powder and setting spray. My foundation would be useless to be without my setting powder! An attendant at a store may be able to source the best products of these for your skin type!

Do you plan on doing a trial with the makeup artist? This could be a great opportunity to talk through foundation types and he/she may be able to recommend one for you.

I would look into ELF products- lots of formulas for different skin types. I also have dark circles and their correctors work wonders!
