For those of you planning to use the invisible ink pen...

csquid, on December 10, 2013 at 4:22 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 19

I know some people mentioned the trick of using an invisible ink pen on the back of the RSVP cards in case a guest forgets to write their names. Well I was at the Dollar Tree earlier today and found one in the toys section! For $1, I figured I try it and it and it works. I'm glad I found it before I spent $10 on one from Amazon. Just thought I'd mention it. Here's a pic.

I think we are just going to fill in the names, like Tina said.

@Tina, that was a good idea.... not like they can use the response card for anyone else anyways.... hmm.... why don't we just do that in the first place ladies?

So true! I wondered that but when I heard people weren't doing it I thought maybe I was wrong.

ETA: Maybe by not having to write them we're saving ourselves time? Also, I have the worst handwriting in the world and I'd hate to pawn that task off on someone else.

Pencil for me too, but remarkably everyone remembered to write their name.

I just used pen. Little number on the back corner. Actually came in handy for 2.

I don't want to bother with numbers b/c then I have to worry about matching them up with a list. I'd rather just write their names and then uncover it if I need it. Just easier for me lol

If you write with lemon juice, it'll be invisible til you hold it over a source of heat (like a lamp).

I also used a pencil. It was pretty hidden in the border of the RSVP, plus I just didn't give a shit if anyone actually spotted it.

This is the first I have heard of this...thanks for adding another worry! LOL I agree with SD53...whatever I NOW end up doing, I do not give a shit if someone notices...it IS our day, right? Smiley winking

But then, maybe I will do the invisible ink trick! Does it last for that long, and in spite of being handled, in cold, heat, etc?

I just used a regular pen. I didn't think it was that big of a deal to have a tiny number written on the BACK of the RSVP card.

Kat, my FH asked the same thing last night about how long it lasts. I'm going to write something and try to uncover it in about a month to see.

Jesse's Girl, I know some people do the number thing, which is exactly the other thing FH said I should do lol. I just figure, if I'm going to write something anyway, why not make it invisible if I can. It's definitely no big deal for people to see it though, I agree with you there. Also, I don't want to have to worry about coordinating with a list, I'd rather just have the name.

Another post reminded me about my invisible ink test.

I wrote something on a piece of paper back in December to see if the ink would show up after all this time. I just tested it and it worked perfectly. As you can see in the pic, you can slightly see where the "invisible" ink is but I'm happy with the result so I'm going to use them on my RSVPs.

Just wanted to update anyone who was interested!
