For fun: if you had to marry on/around a holiday

Michelle, on March 1, 2021 at 9:03 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 18

Which would you pick? Any special reason for your choice?

Sunday before Labor Day. Sunday’s are cheaper and everyone is off the next day! 😂

I would pick 4th of July! It's my favorite holiday, it's in the summer, and I feel like it would be a date where guests would be more willing to attend on as compared to Christmas or Easter or Thanksgiving. Plus, there would be fireworks!

Halloween!! It’s my absolute favorite holiday. I wanted to make it classy, black tie and lots and lots of candles! We host a huge Halloween party every year. I opted against it, because my birthday is the next day. Felt it was to much to celebrate in two days. I want to renew our wedding vows on Halloween with a “till death do us part theme!” lol

Oh my God too hard! Either Fourth of July or Christmas! I listen to Christmas music all year round and would love to get married on a snowy Christmas Eve or day

Halloween! Which I am getting married a week before it! It's the holiday that just makes me the happiest along with weather. Almost went with a Halloween wedding but didn't.

4th of July! My birthday’s July 5th so as a very small kid, I thought the parades and fireworks were for me! And the summer is just such a lovely time in New England, my favorite by far.

I’d have to say Halloween since we postponed from 10/10/20 to 10/30/21. Our original date was cute and fun... but I “🧡” our new date. We aren’t having a Halloween style wedding and we weren’t huge fans of Halloween. But before the pandemic, FH and I hosted 3-4 parties per year. So it was the perfect date because we decided to have themed costume parties for our anniversaries.

I think NYE would be a blast. My hubby would probably thumb wrestle me for Halloween though. 4th of July has such a fun party vibe but way too hot to wear a wedding dress.

I always love the Halloween weddings, here.

We actually got married close to Labor Day... and DH's birthday.

Halloween!! I’ve always wanted a beach wedding so it wouldn’t make a lot of sense with that theme in mind, but if I had to pick a second choice I would do it in the fall on Halloween since it’s my favorite holiday

I love the idea of Halloween, but my gut said 4th of July. Getting to celebrate with a fireworks show at the end of the night? Yes please! Also, like a few others said, I'm way more likely to have people come because they don't have standing commitments/plans for it.

NYE!! It would be so much fun to celebrate the very beginning of a new year as a married couple and having all of your friends and family there.

I specifically DON'T want to get married around a holiday. But, if I absolutely had to, I would go with Arbor Day. Incidentally, Arbor Day this year is only 6 days after my wedding. I partially pick that one because it's near the end of April - late enough in the year that it's really nice outside, early enough that it isn't too hot yet, and just before wedding season starts and prices are jacked up for venues/catering/lodging/etc. I also really love the idea of giving back to the earth and celebrating a much less traditional holiday.
