Flush Mount Wedding Photo Books

Spazzelina, on February 17, 2010 at 6:03 PM Posted in Planning 0 27

My husband is a Photographer- but not a wedding photog. We are getting our high res. pictures on DVD and copyright release. We want to make a flush mount wedding photo book but can't find any companies that deal directly with the Bride and Groom and allow us to design the book. Does anyone have any suggestions? We were looking at Blurb but I'm not sure if it will provide us with the quality a "professional" company would. Thanks Smiley smile

If your husband is a professional photographer he should be able to convince the professional album shops to do business with him and sell him the albums. You don't have to be a wedding photographer to do business with them, you just need to be a professional photographer. Most of the album companies should be willing to do business with you if you have a photography company set up, be it be a LLC or any other kind.

As for the blurb books. I would compare their quality to children books (for a lack of a better comparison ). The covers are kind of thick and unbendable, and the interior pages are pretty much like magazine pages but just a tad thicker. It is not bad, but it is not even close to the professional albums that you see in the photographer's studio.

I know few brides who use Picaboo.com albums, but their software only works with Windows. Don't know much about their book quality.

I second Memories studio, if you hubby is a pro, have a website he can provide them, he should have no problem dealing with any pro album company.

Blurb is cheap, but so is it's quality, and it's not for a good wedding album, plus they don't offer Flush mount albums.

    Good luck.

My photographer gives us full copyright release instead of making us pay for prints & books and these are the sites that he recommends dealing with for quality books, prints, etc.

    Picaboo.com

    Blurb.com

    Zazzle.com

    SmileBooks.com

Just found this out from my mom today. She was in Ritz Camera and they do books (can't be professional photos unless you get permission). But they're nicely priced!

    Hello Sprazzelina!

Try this company - we just used them to order our portfolios and they are great - you download their software, load your pics into their template selections and upload it... it got to us in 10 days and it is really beautiful!

We prefer www.whcc.com, they do great work and most

often offer discounts for your first order.

If you want a real photographic paper / leather bound flush-mount album, do not use MyPublisher. The books they make are magazine-style, press-printed (thin flexible) paper pages -- not photographic paper. They are great (and affordable) for coffee table books from your vacations and such, and we used to use them for lower-end photo guest books for our wedding clients. But, we have since switched to a higher-end vendor, Zookbinders, and now use their Premium PhotoBooks as engagement photo guest books.

We already used Zookbinders for our client's wedding albums and they have great quality and quick turnaround times.

Besides designing custom albums for our own clients, we also design albums for others like yourself who have hi-res images from their wedding with no direct access to an album vendor.

Contact me for more information if interested.

    Cheers!

MPIX is the "consumer" side of the company I use for my printing needs. They do offer flush mount albums: http://mpix.com/Product.aspx/assembledalbums

I would try Shutterfly if you are looking to do it yourself. I did mine on here and did gifts for both parents on this. I have also done about 3 for other brides.

Just got married last year and I'm still working on my photobooks from our wedding! I was asking the same questions you are now asking and I did a lot of research on the topic because I've always loved photos. I've done a number of wedding photo books, wedding guest book, engagement photo books. I'm also putting together a flush mount album myself. I've seen flush mount options available from the following companies: Picaboo, AdoramaPix, Lifephoto, Somerset Albums, and Black River Imaging to name a few. I've also done a number of low to mid range books with companies like Blurb, Snapfish & MyPublisher, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to splurge a bit (now that I've had some time to save up!) and go for a high end album with Black River Imaging. I read they will work with brides directly and esp if your hub is a photographer - no problem. Here's some pics of my own books if you want to take a peek: http://www.photobookgirl.com/blog/make-your-own-wedding-photo-book/

Hi , my sister had her album done by www.flushmountalbums.com last year, the price was great and the quality pretty good... I compared it to the albums that I saw at my photographers studio and it was the same... they offer free album design, I just ordered mine since I got the photos from my wedding... I paid under $400 for an 11x14 custom book with design and shipping... I think they have a couple of sites,

    www.photographyalbums.net

    www.freealbumdesign.com

I'll give you an update after I receive my album... the ladies that do customer service are very nice and knowledgeable

After my wedding, seeing how difficult it is to find affordable flush mount albums that provided what I was looking for (particularly incorporating text into the designs), I decided to open my own Etsy store, designing custom flush mount albums based on photographs provided by the clients.

Please check out my etsy store, if you are interested--see samples of the design layout and images of the albums to show the quality of the printing and the range of cover options: http://www.etsy.com/shop/MelanieRoseDesign

Albums start at $435 for full design, printing, and binding.
