FLOWER VS. TIARA

Irene, on July 5, 2011 at 11:59 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 24

Ok so my wedding is two months away and I am completely undecided as to weather I should wear a Tiara or a flower piece- I am very torn. Please help. I like the tiara look but hope I don't look outdated- is the flower a more timeless piece?

It is up you and your personality. I am wearing a flower because me in a tiara would be comical. I would somehow manage to knock it off my own head.

I also think it depends on your dress and venue. Do you have a dress with bling or a flowy chiffon gown? Are you getting married on a golf course or in a church?

Have you picked a hairstyle yet? Maybe that will help you decide...

Agreed. What's your hairstyle. I wore flowers and loved them. I agree with Lori that to me a tiara is comical BUT that's not saying it doesn't look good on another bride. It looked bad on me and me alone.

I think the flower is more trendy, certainly not a timeless look. However that doesn't mean it isn't beautiful. Tiaras can be done well, or they can be over the top. *I* am wearing a tiara. It's actually kind of a thing with me and my daughters- and I always tell FH I'm a princess and he needs to treat me accordingly (it's a joke, I'm not that high maintenance...).

It depends on your style and the dress. I am not a big fan of tiaras, but a flower wouldnt match my dress so i am using a crystal comb.

Depends on what type of tiara too. I was planning on wearing a blingy star or flower until I came across my "tiara". Its all bling and several flowers put together instead of looking like a crown or headband.

Wether or not you wear a tiara or flower depends on the feel of the wedding and your dress.

How about a headband instead, that would be kind of a cross between the two.

You can probably wear a simple headband or tiara and beautiful flowers. Smiley smile

I think tiaras are totally outdated, but then again, I wasn't a fan when they were "in". The only person that should wear a tiara is TRUE royalty, imho. I think the exception would be if the bling in the tiara was actually real, instead of cheap rhinestones. Smiley winking Who could turn up real bling like that?

If you want the bling, go for a head band, or a nice comb. I think they are far classier. But, hey that is just my opinion.

Yea, I think tiaras are too princessy and I'm sick of every bride having a flower stuck to the side of their head. No offense to those that did. I opted for a comb.

If you are not a "tiara person" - don't push yourself! Look into hair flowers, but definitely, definitely look into hair combs as well! They could be totally gorgeous, and will give you a sparkle and splendor of the tiara as well as the subtle touch of a side flower: http://forprincessbride.com/store/page14.html

Aww Michelle- I have always loooooved that comb!!!!

I think ANYTHING but a tiara looks good. Tiara's come off as childish looking and dated...jmo ofcourse.

Michelle....I just love that comb! It is gorgeous.

    Ditto to Image Consultant!

I am one of those brides wearing a flower. With the casual nature of our wedding, a lovely comb, like the one you and Image Consultant just posted, doesn't suit me, our wedding or the way I am wearing my hair. So, a flower it had to be, but I tweaked mine a bit to be more me and to match my bouquet.

Why not weave a thin strand of pearls or crystals through a fresh flower head band and have a little of both?

There are many different kinds of "tiaras". If you are not totally sure that the hair flower or fascinator is your personality, then don't push it. You might want to try a trial hairstyle, then go to the bridal salon and try on several bridal headpiece styles: combs at the crown of your head, back combs, side combs, hair pins, and yes flowers to see what feels right. Walk around, and what feels secure in your head?

Where do you want to place your veil? If you are thinking of placing the veil at the top of your head (crown), then a comb would work well for you. Combs come in many heights and styles, from combs that are made of all crystal, rhinestone, to flowers made of freshwater pearls. Hair pins can also be tucked in at the top of the veil comb.

If you decide to place your veil at the back of your head underneath an up do, then you may want to consider a pair of side combs, hair pins or yes, the hair flower.

I ran out of room...when using hair pins or small combs, you can combine two styles that compliment each other, say a small comb and a hairpin that has a complimentary element to make a sort of all over carefree style.
