Florida - Evening June Wedding

Briana, on June 7, 2016 at 1:19 PM Posted in Planning 1 24

I recently booked my ceremony on the beach June 10, 2017. I know that is getting in the rainy months and I wanted to stay away from a day ceremony due to it being so hot. Has anyone ever gotten married at night in Florida during this month? I am just trying to figure out if I am taking too much of a risk and should consider changing the time?

I would say the rain is hit or miss. Really unpredictable regardless of the month. It'll be really hot in June, but having it in the evening will make it more bearable. Do you have a back-up plan in place in case it does rain?

I am taking a trip to Fort Lauderdale next month, so I can pick out the location and try to find a near by pavilion. It really is unpredictable and there's only so much research one can do lol

I wouldn't risk it personally. The heat in the summer is oppressive even at night. If you are getting married on the ocean side it might be ok because of the breeze off the water. The choice is yours and you will have a beautiful wedding.

I can't speak for the east coast of Florida, but here on the west coast, I try to schedule my ceremonies for 45 minutes before sunset. There is less chance of rain then, it is a little cooler, the lighting is better for photos, and the beach is less crowded.

Also, sea turtle nesting & hatching season runs 5/1-10/31 which means no lights on the beach after dark.

My sister got married two years ago on the beach in Destin, FL. The ceremony took place around 6 pm I believe. It was hot, but not unbearably so because the of the breeze from the ocean.

In NWF we have regular afternoon storms throughout summer. It will typically be sunny all day and then storm between 2-4pm. Then becomes sunny again. It is still really hot at 6pm though.

Always have a back up plan for ANY outside event- in Florida- any time of the year. Period.

It may be beautiful... but you never know. Evenings in summer have oppressive humidity about 75% of the time... a 30min ceremony would be ok- but plan to move inside for the reception.

    Hope this helps!

It's really hot in June! Where are you looking in Fort Lauderdale? That's where I'm getting married in November.

My daughter got married in Clearwater in June at sunset. There was no rain, but the wind was ferocious. When I lived in FL on the east coast, it was bearable in the evenings because of the breeze, but you never knew when a pop up rain storm would happen. Just be sure to have a back up plan.

Make sure to have a back up plan. We waited until December to have our wedding, and we were worried it would be too cold.

You'll never win in Florida. Ever.

    But I love it here!

Florida is a horrible place to plan for weather. Typically storms will be over by sunset, but you never know. I planned mine for January but have a backup in place. It's a 4:30 so I'm hopeful that it'll be dry. My BFF was married in November and there was a huge storm so you can't count on patterns

You may be dealing with bugs at that time.

My wedding started at 7pm on Navarre Beach Florida and it was hot, a word advice don't wear a big heavy dress you will be soaked by the end. But it didn't rain until a few days after my wedding. Here's one where you can see the beach behind us and the water.

It may rain and it will most definitely be humid. I live in Swfl and this weather is unpredictable.

We were just at a wedding in Florida this weekend. It was a lovely wedding and overall fun, but it was both overwhelmingly humid and I got eaten alive by bugs. Fortunately the ceremony was inside, but a lot of the reception was outside and I would not recommend it, as a guest.

It rains almost every evening in the summer. I wouldn't risk it.

I had a beach wedding on Tues., the day after TS Colin came through. It was beautiful at sunset.

Had another beach wedding on Friday and it was beautiful then, too.

Where in Florida? I live about an hour and a half south of Tampa and we have the same wedding date! We are doing an inside ceremony and pictures on the beach. Even June is waaaay too hot for me to be outside for too long. Usually reception sites that are near beaches have an area in case your ceremony gets rained out. I would inquire about that.
