First time trying dress on after it arrived, how did you feel???

pearl, on June 12, 2012 at 10:49 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 15

I'm getting so nervous, anxious, stressed... I ordered a very beautiful dress from Pronovias, it's coming all the way from Spain. I ordered it in March and it will finally be here in less than 2 weeks.... I did order it one size small... but I've lost about 10 lbs (don't have a lot to lose, just a little bit of baby weight). I just can't believe I'm getting this anxiety, almost nausea's feeling. I'm thinking it's stress not knowing if my dress will fit.. Were you guys feeling the same way?? Of course I'm excited too!

But once the dress got on my nerves calmed right down!! Can't wait for you to get your dress and try it on - You will feel much better Smiley smile

I was super nervous! It was 10 months since I had ordered or seen it and I couldn't even remember if I would like it or not.......and also I had no idea if it would zip or what. Turns out I SHOULD have ordered a size smaller. Smiley smile

I held my breath and closed my eyes until I heard that "zzzzzzzzzzzzzzip" and even then I only opened one eye at a time. Smiley smile And then I was very, very happy and actually teared up a little b/c I realized I was getting married in a few weeks and OMG. Smiley smile

    Enjoy!

BTW we passed a Pronovias storefront in Madrid, I almost took a photo! They had new season styles in the window.........drool! I wanted to go inside and H was like, "Why, we're already married, what the heck do you need to go in there for??" lol.

It was exciting putting it on and "mocking" up accessories to go with it. It was disappointing because it was the first time I had tried it on with a strapless bra and realized how gargantuan my boobs look in it - definitely going to have the seamstress work a little magic.

Not to mention that I was relieved I ordered the size I did. I tried on the sample and it fit perfectly (maybe a smidge tight) and the lady at DB told me I needed to order THAT size. I told her I wanted a size bigger because the LAST time I got something from DB and ordered the size of the sample, when the unused, unworn dress came in it was way too small (because samples stretch out.) Finally the saleslady conceded and ordered a size larger and viola! it fit perfectly just like I knew it would.

Ashley I felt the same way!

I ordered a size bigger just in case I got lazy. Hahaha. I of course didn't and will need it taken in but iI wanted to be safe than sorry.

    First fitting is 7/20!

I was very nervous to try it on again! I had anxiety that I wasn't going to still love it, but I did, and I'm sure you will too. Keep us posted!

I'm trying on mine tomorrow! I'm excited and can't wait. I ordered it 2 sizes smaller because I've been losing weight. That should make me nervous but I'm not at all because I've been doing well with my weight loss.

I was anxious too. i ordered mine a little small and worked my butt off over about six months to drop about 10 pounds. I have alot of trouble losing weight, it just doesn't fall off quickly for me.

But it was all right the first time I put it on. I think once I saw it all put together a few fittings in, I started feeling better and by the day of, I was so in love with it.

The only emotion i felt when i 1st tried on my dress was anger - the salon ordered me a 12, even though i tried on a 10 that zipped up with no problem & had extra room in the bust. i was so fed up with them when the dress came in! i refused to let them do my alterations bc they wanted to charge me $500 to take it. i found this amazing seamstress who first yelled at me for ordering a dress TWO sizes too big - cause by that time i had lost weight. there was boning that needed to be removed, she added a halter, sewed on 2 rows of rhinestones on the hem, attached a veil to the peek-a-boo area, hemmed it, and steamed it for $325. i am very happy with my dress now. it feels like mine

Well, they say bridal dresses run small... and the size 8 wouldn't zip, but everything else fit, so I went with a 10, since every dress that fit perfectly was a 10. When I went to purchase the dress, the lady said I needed a 14! Which made no sense to me! I had this 5 page receipt/contract and made me initial like 5 times that said I wanted a 10... so now the time is near and it's making my stomach turn into knots! I will keep you guys posted and hopefully with a picture of me in my dress. The bridal shop is pretty upscale but I know how they make their money and it's mainly on their 500$ alterations and I just didn't want them taking my dress in too much... I also am hoping I still love my dress... oh geeze...

They definitely run small....or different....or something.....hell per bridal salon employee measurement my hips are 8, my bust is a 6/8 and my waist is a 4....dumba** girl at bridal salon wanted to order a 6 cuz it was right "in between"...my a** would have split the seams lol....I ordered an 8 (online without having tried a sample of this sctual dress on) and glad I did cuz the bust is a bit snug, hip area fits great although the waist and thigh area needs to be taken in quite a bit! I was freaking out until it came in and I put it on, then I was cool as a cucumber and fell instantly in love with my dress....can't wait for alterations now! =)

I started to worry that I wouldn't love my dress still but I fall in love with it more and more each time I try it on! I can't wait to wear it on my wedding day.

I am so nervous!! My first fitting is on 7/2 and they said I measured perfect for the size that I ordered so hopefully I still fit that even though I wanted to lose some pounds before. But if it fits less money for alterations!! Smiley smile The only thing I am worrying about is they sent me a swatch of the color since I forgot and it looks TOO ivory so I am hoping I don't regret this color when I see the entire dress :-|

When I bought my dress, I tried on a 12 but ordered a 10 and the lady was supportive of that decision. The 12 felt good but, well, eh. I normally wear a 10.

I wasn't nervous at all. Smiley smile My mom wanted to still do dressing shopping (she said she felt I bought my dress too fast), so I got to try on my dress all over again at a different store in a size 8! lol It was tight, but dang did that thing fit nice. lol I felt a little uncomfortable though (and I had gained 5 lbs).

So I guess you could say I wasn't nervous cause if I fit into that size 8, I better fit into a 10 !!! lol

But being a corset back, I had plenty of time to think about the dress before it was on. Smiley smile

I wasn't very excited/happy when I first tried on my dress. It was sooo big! I almost forgot why I fell in love with it in the first place. It's starting to get better with each fitting! =)
