First dress fitting today...and I fainted!

Danielle, on July 29, 2010 at 9:13 PM Posted in Planning 0 17

I was SO excited when my dress came in a month early, so I scheduled my fitting asap and went in today. It fit perfectly, and just needed the hem and bustle. She pinned the hem, and started working on the bustle when all of a sudden I felt really hot and lightheaded. I asked her if she wouldn't mind taking a break because I was dizzy, and bam...I woke up a few minutes later with them fanning me on the ground. Thankfully the girl doing her fitting next to me was a nurse, and knew exactly what to do, because the people at David's Bridal were freaking out.

The moral of the story is...eat a good breakfast, and don't lock your knees! I didn't eat well this morning, and even though I tried to remember not to lock my knees for the 1st ten minutes, after that I got distracted lol. At least I learned my lesson at the fitting, and not on my wedding day!

NC... If you stand with your knees locked, your circulation gets messed up and you can pass out!

I'm with the other ladies, wondering if you got a pic to share? Or pin punctures?

LOL ... good that it was at the fitting! Glad that you are okay. I fainted many time before for not eating breakfast, but I am aware when its going to happen. (get hot, start sweating, see dots, and then bam I am out)! lol

@ Shaira, yeah that was pretty much how it went! LOL. No pin pricks ladies! Luckily they caught me before I hit the ground, so I didn't land on my hem. No pics this round, I forgot all about it after the fainting lol. I'll take some next time when I bring my MOH so she can learn how to do the bustle. Here's an old pic though from when I first bought it. This one is 2 sizes too big, so it's much tighter and more flattering through the middle- this one makes me look much wider lol

I had my first fitting today too...fortunately I stayed upright! My shoes hurt my feet too much for me to even possibly lock my knees anyway! Glad you're okay, and your dress looks great!

Carmen, I just had a bridesmaid dinner and I told all of them, "Don't lock your knees!" Luckily one of my girls was in ROTC and could back me up.

    Glad you didn't get hurt!

Ugh isnt that the most embarassing thing??! I have fainted in public before and of course everyone thinks you are dead and they make a big deal out of it! ugh...so sorry that had to happen to you! Remember, on the day of the wedding, dont lock your knees and drink lots of water! Especially if its hot!
