First Class Seats for Honeymoon

Kate & Nick, on December 24, 2014 at 3:21 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 31

I am working on booking everything for our Honeymoon and I am wondering whats everyones opinion of First Class seats. I am looking at upgrading out tickets there (not roundtrip) and its about $200 a piece for first class.

Has anyone else made this decision? Whats your thoughts?

I would save that money for something more exciting, like an extra night or two wherever you are staying. But I'm also ridiculously practical and not fancy at all, so I would never fly first class in the first place ha ha.

If the flight is long, its a nice upgrade. depending on the airline, you have access to the lounge while you wait and free beverages, not to mention extra leg room and the feeling of opulence.

by long flight i mean 6+ hours. our honeymoon will be 2 flights each 4 hours, not worth it to me.

but a flight overseas, 8+ hours, totally a nice option to actually lay back, instead of just lean back.

Where are you traveling to and what airline? Makes a huge difference. Perks are different for each one. Let me know where and I can tell you if it's worth it. I fly every week

The flight will be from Denver to Atlanta (layover) Atlanta to Cancun. So a 3 hour flight, then a 2.5 hour flight.

We are looking on flying with Delta. It has the most convenient flight times.

For those flight lengths, not worth it. Save the money for excursions or spa.

Yep just tough it out. Our flight from Vancouver to Hong Kong was not fun but an upgrade gets rediculously expensive on long flights.

We had two 5-hour flights each way (NYC to Seattle, and then Seattle to Honolulu), so we did upgrade. I had made the trip before in coach and it was really miserable. FH is a lot taller than me, so I knew he'd be in hell squished that long. Upgrading was certainly worth it for us.

For your flights, it probably isnt, necessary, but may be nice-- maybe take coach there, and then first class back home, that way you have something to look forward to and the way back won't be so depressing Smiley tongue

DF desperately wanted to upgrade from economy to 1st class. When we priced it the price was 18k more. So we're going to suck it up on a 14 hour flight.

My FH doesn't know that I am even looking into this. I was kinda wanting to surprise him with it. Letting him learn about it when we get to the airport!

It's less for the extra leg room and more for the feeling of being pampered. We love to travel, but we are very cheap travelers and I feel like this is best excuse to splurg!

If it's only $200, i would do it! FH and I have never been in first class before. Out of curiosity, I just looked up first class flights to Maldives and the cheapest ones start at ~$17,000 pp roundtrip. That's almost three times what we paid for our entire honeymoon, and just ridiculous. (Normal roundtrip flights were around $1500 pp I believe)

Oh my goodness! I agree that it's too much for first class!

It's a trade off of not a long enough flight, or far to expensive.

I love Delta; but $200 one way a piece is not worth it. Use the $400 and splurge while in Cancun.

It's up to you, of course, but it sounds like a lot of time (total) on a plane, and it might be worth it. Plus, when else do you have such a good excuse?

I've never flown first class....never seen the benefit for the price...but it is definitely a nice splurge for the honeymoon if you have it to spend...

My fh used to fly a lot for work and get upgraded for free to first class. He said it wasn't that special just free drinks and a little more room. Not sure if I would pay for it.

I've flown direct from Cleveland to cancun multiple times and it's such an easy flight even with a layover (done the layover route also) that I'd say no. Things are soo cheap in Mexico, I'd spend my $400 on a couples massage at the resort and Ruth's Chris (on the strip near the Ritz) as a special surprise instead.

We flew from dc to cancun. H told the lady at the gate that it was our honeymoon and she upgraded us for free. I wouldn't pay for it.
