Final dj Call: What did you discuss?!?

Kimberly, on August 14, 2023 at 12:09 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 4
Hey, everyone! So FH and I are getting all of our final vendor calls scheduled, and next on the list is our DJ! We’re planning to go over our reception schedule, must haves and do not plays, intros and toasts, the general vibe we’re going for, and special announcements. Are we missing anything? Is there anything you wish you had told your DJ before your reception, or is there something you’re so glad you covered with him/her in advance? Does anyone remember particularly loving or disliking a DJ at a wedding they’ve been a guest at, and, if so, why?

For any wedding party introductions, it might be a good idea to discuss name pronunciations with the DJ ahead of time, especially if any of your wedding party members have names that are more difficult to pronounce. Otherwise, it looks like the list you have covers pretty much everything!

My biggest issue with DJs is that they always seem to be way too loud. I usually wear ear plugs to events like weddings and still get headaches. Maybe discuss how to regulate volume and who they can/can't listen to regarding turning it up/down? Also, make sure that the people sitting closest to the DJ are not your elderly relatives. I've been to weddings where this was the case and they were NOT happy.

Haha it reminds me of graduation lol! Our DJ included pronunciation on the form we had to fill out, but I’ll definitely add this to the list on our call so he can actually hear us say everyone’s name!

This is an excellent point! Our DJ’s booth is across the way from the tables (in an outdoor space), but noise levels will still be a concern on the dance floor right next to the booth. Granny shouldn’t have to lose her hearing just because she wants to step out on the dance floor!
