Filling out the dress...

futuremrsmoney, on March 31, 2011 at 12:16 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 29

So my dress came in last week and I did a quick try on this past Sunday. Unfortunately my consultant wasn't in because she doesn't work on Sundays, so I was with a different consultant. The dress fit almost perfectly, except I don't fill out the bust. Story of my life. Anyway, I do not want to wear a bra or anything, because it'll be cooler (it's an outdoor ceremony) without, so the consultant suggested getting "chicken cutlets" from VS and have alterations sew them into the dress.

I went into VS and the lady there wasn't sure what product the consultant was talking about and, frankly, neither do I. My first fitting is Saturday. I have attached pictures of my dress -- but not with me in it because apparently the camera didn't work when my mom took the pictures.

Suggestions?

LOL I don't think your consultant knows what she's tlaking about. You need to have CUPS (as in bra cups) sewn into the dress, and maybe add cutlets to that. Cutlets are little silicone things, the shape of a push up pad that you put in your bra to uh...add clevage. I don't think VS sells them, but you can order online. Fredricks might carry them. You can get the bra cups at any sewing store, like Jo-ann's.

I have the same problem. I'm curious as to what others suggest. I searched online & the cutlets seem to only lift & boost to give cleavage. I don't know if that will work to add size. I don't need cleavage, I want to go from a B to a C (outward wise).

I have the same problem in every dress I worn without a bra. All my prom dresses ect...

Usually what I do and what I plan on doing with my wedding dress is sewing fake boobs in it. Walmart and Target both have them. They have full size boobs, not just cutlet. They are very similar to the water bra, but without the bra part. The outside is cloth so two simple darts can put them im place or your alteration ppl can do it. I'll try to find a pic to put on here.

Chicken Cutlets!!! HAHA! I've NEVER heard of those before!!! That's awesome! I vote for the cups sewn into the gown and then the cutlets added in! Good luck!

Is there enough time to alter the dress to fit you without a bra?

Wow - seriously? that lady must live under a rock -- hahahaha... you can get chicken cutlets ( i know, ew) just about anywhere that sells lingerie / undergarments. they have the silicone ones, and i have also seen more of a fabric / padded version.

analy is right though -- you will need to have cups sewn / built into the dress, and THEN use the cutlets.... for all of that trouble though - why arent they just doing alterations so that it fits you?

oh and congratulations on the dress most importantly!!

I got my 'cutlets' from Sears! They had them where they had the adheasive sticker bra cups in their bra section. They did look like chicken cutlets! If I remember they were only 15-20 dollars to buy. Try Sears or JC Penneys for them.

Lol - I'm laughing at victoria's picture. I like how they had to add fake nips to them.

THey also have them at David's Bridal. Analy is correct. You need a cup sewn in first. The inserts are $20. I buy them for my daughters who were not gifted with "girls".

    Another option...

Magic Cups for backless dresses...they are also at DB for $18.

    Happy filler hunting!

Here they are. Found them on Boobybits.com they are $25 here, but the ones I buy at wallyworld are the same thing but about $15. Couldn't find them on walmart.com, but they have had them in every store I've been to accross the country. And I used to stock them at Target, so I know they have them too.

My alterations lady told me to get the padding to add to my bustier, otherwise my girls just disappear and she didn't want to take it in that much... My mom found them at Walmart and now I need to see if they work... I keep forgetting I'm walking around with them in my coat pocket!

The bust .They will have to take it in at alterations... I am barely an A cup Smiley sad no cleavage at all here (which isn't fair! I totally got jipped, all the other women in my family have B's and up).. I am getting the self adhesive bra to wear under mine.. it's just like the cutlets, but instead of stuffing them in, they adhere to your skin..

I don't know how those would be at an outdoor wedding, not sure if they would be too uncomfortable in any heat... but the lady at the bridal shop who showed them to me said that almost every girl who works in her store owns one, and that one of them is a salsa dancer and wears it while salsa dancing and loves it..

    So we'll see

I guess a cup size isn't too much. Maybe I'll try it when my dress comes in for the first fitting.

Story of my life. I use my cheapie chicken cutlets all the time. Definitely good at hiding nips and adding size, but there is not much lift since, they sort of just sit on your chest. I like them with a shelf or cup type of something, so they go where they're supposed to.
