Is giving out a wedding favor to all of your guests still common practice? My fiance and I were trying to get by without doing it if we didn't have to since every wedding we've been to it's always the same stuff that we never really end up using or we forget them there. Is this seen as tacky or cheap if we don't do this? Or do people not really even notice if you're giving basically a party favor?

We’ve decided not to. I’ve been to many weddings and can’t remember a single favor that I’ve kept after a wedding. We decided to apply the money to our drink budget!

I’ve been to several weddings recently that didn’t do them, and they weren’t missed. We’re opting to do stainless steel wine tumblers that I’m using my vinyl cutting machine to put each person’s Name on. It will serve as their cup for the night, their place card, and their favor all in one. I love it because I wanted to add a personal touch for each guest.

I want to do a favor even though it is wasteful! I think the previous poster who said it is rude not to was a little strong. You should not feel guilty if you do not want to. I believe it is an old tradition and the younger crowd (I am on the cusp of the “millennial” group) is forgoing them.

My favor is going to be a part of some entertainment I hired. I hired someone to do caricatures. Something different from a photo booth! I was stuck on what to do for place cards especially since we will be on the water so it can be windy and I saw on Etsy marble tile place cards and then I thought the guest can take it home afterward to use as a coaster.

Oh another thing I wanted to mention is that this is really a no-win situation. If you have favors, people will leave them behind. However, it can also go the other way and not having them, there will always be that one person to complain!

Rarely are favors any good, and typically it’s a useless or DIY item that was purchased with the final few pennies from the budget (which is why they usually look like afterthoughts). Lol!! When I was a wedding planner, it was always the same..... at the end of the night I was gathering bunches of favors off the tables that guests left behind and putting them in a box for the couple to take home. In my opinion, it’s better and more meaningful when the couple stands up and gives a heartfelt thanks to their guests, family, bridal party, etc. 💋🐩

Our favors are also being used as the thing that shows people where their seat is. We did this so 1 to cut costs and 2 so people don't need to feel obligated to take it but can if they want to.

So I don't think you need to have favors because most people don't take them in my opinion.

They’re definitely not necessary Smiley smile we were thinking of doing something but probably not just because of our budget.

If you are on a budget or deciding where to appropriate your funds, I would skip these! They are a nice gesture but also no one will think twice if you skip them

It’s unnecessary and people won’t notice. Plus, most guests leave them on the table at the end of the night anyway. You’ve provided your guests with dinner, drinks, dessert, entertainment, etc. So a little favor isn’t needed. It’s better to just get on the mic after toasts and give a heartfelt “thank you”.

I've only been to two weddings that didnt give favors.
    I definitely noticed.
Alternatively, I've never remembered what I got from other people's weddings, and probably didnt even bother taking the favor.
If you want to skip them, skip them. I dont think anybody cares.

The skeleton key bottle openers would make a great favor- you can find them on Amazon for a variety of prices ranging from $20-30 and you get between 50 and 75 depending on which one you choose. It comes to less that .50 cents per person!
