Favors??? Is anyone not doing them?

I really don't want to do favors. I know that I've thrown away and donated to thrift stores so many wedding favors and I don't want to spend the money on something that won't be kept. We are using mason jars and people can take those but my mom keeps pushing for me to do some sort of favors. Is...

Is anyone not doing them? If you are doing them please share your ideas.

We are not doing them either. I don't think they are necessary so we are going to spend money on extending the wedding reception instead. We have considered the Koozie only because we are doing a beach wedding that includes a couple of days of hanging out in the Florida sun (and all of our folks are drinkers ha), but that is still on the fence.

You don't have to have favors...but why doesn't your mom count the mason jars as favors? You could fill the mason jars with chocolate or some other edible, if your mom wants to do more. (Is she paying for the favors?)

My FMIL also pushed for favors... I'm just doing chocolates.

I wouldn't have done favors but...we are getting married in a greenhouse that specializes in bulbs from Holland, they were cheap to buy wholesale and I can gladly keep/use what isn't taken. We'll display them in a giant basket with paper bags, allowing guests who will use them to take them. There will be instructions on the bags and a "our wedding colors will bloom in the spring" saying

We are doing favors, but not doing the typical wedding candy you see in the wedding section. We are putting the bite sized candy in there or the fancy chocolates. The bride who commented scratch off tickets, I never thought about that!

I am doing them. I am getting candy apples from a local farm. If you do them just do an edible favor people don't want little things with your face or date on them

I plan on mason jar mugs with black board stickers on them so they can write their names. Both really cheap, especially if you plan to have as small as wedding as I'm planning.

We arent doing favors. We are having a photobooth and the photos they get to keep will be their keepsake.

Unless it's a photo booth or candy, as a guest I don't think it's worth it. I've been to plenty weddings without favors and I didn't miss them (or even notice it, until this moment when I thought about it).

I'd go without, but if you do have favors, IMO I'd say don't do personalized. I went to a wedding where the favors were pictures of the couple?? That was odd.

I didn't do them and they weren't missed. Not necessary at all. They had awesome music, food, and drinks!

We did favors but his family can be very sentimental. We only created about half of the expected guest list and did a diy. I think they are cute and thoughtful.

We are doing a sand ceremony involving our 4 boys. I found the perfect sized glass jars on Amazon for cheap, purchased extra sand, and edited our envelope seal (vista print) for an additional order. We used the seal as a label and filled the jars with sand. It was inexpensive, easy, and personal.

We also have our event person transforming the arch post ceremony to create a photo station. It should (I hope) make our guests really feel involved in our ceremony.

The only reason we are doing favors is because they will double as "escort cards"

Ours is a DW so it's also a great way for the family to take home a little small something from the island. I DIYed them and cost less than $30 for 42 of them.

If I had a larger guest list, I wouldn't have done favors even though my family expects them.

The mason jar is absolutely enough. If anything, maybe have take-home desserts or something simple like that. Don't use anything that has your names on it, people will just throw those away.

ETA: Our favor will be a cookie table. It's a Pittsburgh tradition!
