Favors??? Is anyone not doing them?

Megan, on August 19, 2017 at 11:57 PM Posted in Planning 0 72

I really don't want to do favors. I know that I've thrown away and donated to thrift stores so many wedding favors and I don't want to spend the money on something that won't be kept.

We are using mason jars and people can take those but my mom keeps pushing for me to do some sort of favors.

Is anyone not doing them? If you are doing them please share your ideas.

We are not doing favors. Every favor I have ever received at a wedding has been a piece of junk that I either left on the table at the reception, or gave to the thrift shop. A few times we have had something edible but I find most of them suspect as to quality and safety, so didn't eat them.

You don't need to do favors. Put the money towards food or beverages for your guests to be served at the reception.

We are doing a photo booth and a little snack favor.. nothing major! I think it is a major waste of money (like you said) for something that ends up in the garbage or the donate pile.

We were going to do $1 scratch offs but now we are getting down to the wire and the budget is tight so we are doing without.

The only wedding favor I ever enjoyed was a wedding where they gave out bags of M&Ms. We're not doing them

We have a photo booth so the pictures from that will be the favor. We are also having a cookie table and will be providing little bags so that guests can take cookies home. I have only been to one wedding that I took the favors home with me - they did mini bottles of wine.

I'm still on the fence about favors. Initially, I was adamant about doing favors. Now, I'm not too sure about them. I have plenty of time to decide, so we'll see what I settle on, lol.

No, we're not doing favors. I couldn't think of anything that wasn't too children's birthday party-ish. But we will have hotel welcome bags and I'm sure those will get a useless trinket or two related to the area.

We're getting married at a brewery, so we have been saving our craft brew bottle caps to make magnets. They will be holding our escorts cards onto our escort board and if people want to take them, that's cool. If not, we'll use them at home. Total cost= $9. Well, and the beer we would be drinking anyway.

Are you having a photo booth at your wedding? If so my friend who was just recently married bought bulk photo frames as her favors. Another handy trick, she placed the names of all her guests on a slip inside, with each color font name symbolizing to the staff which person ordered which meal. I thought it was perfect and cheap to do!

    1. You don't have to do favors 2. If you are doing mason jars - those sound like favors! I got them as favors for a wedding two years ago.

We didn't do favors. Part of our centerpieces were strands of tiny lights in mason jars, and a lot of people actually took the lights. We also had a photo booth and people took their photos. Personally I think favors are a waste of time and money. The only favor I've ever kept was a cookie.

I always look forward to favors. We are going with an edible Indian sweet item (I am Indian).

We are doing bags of candy and little photo envelopes for their instant photos. Cost about $250 for 250 guests. Bought little organza bags, individually wrapped candies, and noce envelopes we printed out ourselves.

I'm not. Didn't even know that was a thing until I came on this forum. Always thought was something done at little kids parties.

Photo booth and we're having an ice cream sundae bar. I'd like to do favors ( just because I like seeing our names on stuff) Smiley smile but they are kind of a waste of money.

We decided against favours as neither of us have ever actually used any of the favours received. There will be flip flops to dance and blankets (winter wedding) and a selfie station with a Polaroid camera which we think is more than enough. We'd rather spend it on something else that chows into the budget
