How do you feel about having a gap between the wedding ceremony and reception? Do you think it’s a faux pas to leave your guests to entertain themselves in between your ceremony and reception? Or have you been to lots of weddings with a gap and find this fairly normal? Where do you stand on this...

Where do you stand on this one? Is having a gap between the ceremony and reception a faux pas or nah?

Nah, mine has a gap due to the ceremony being 15 minutes away from ceremony and we’ll have a cocktail hour.

The only gap should be the gap needed for photos, and I'm planning for guests to start eating before we finish the photos (we're having appetizers/finger foods not a sit-down meal).

There should not be a gap any longer than the time it takes to travel from the ceremony to the reception, if they are held at separate locations. I have been to weddings where the ceremony was early morning and the reception wasn't until late at night, with guests expected to fend for themselves, and the reception was practically empty as a result. Guests felt like the couple didn't care enough about them to make them feel comfortable.

Even with religious ceremonies that must begin at a certain time, reception venues are flexible enough to allow for an earlier than usual start time.
