Father's Day weekend wedding?

Mrs C to be, on April 5, 2016 at 3:19 PM Posted in Planning 0 25

We have finally found our venue and had thought of doing the wedding June 17, 2017. After talking to family I realize this is Father's Day weekend. I'm wondering if this will prevent people from coming to the wedding? We could still change the date but I'm worried if we do it too early in June we won't have as nice of weather.

VIPs will be there. I don't think father's day weekend is a huge deal or i'd skip a wedding just because of that...

I don't think it's a huge deal, but I also don't think the weather would be that much different one or two weeks prior.

I'm getting married on Father's Day this year. No one has even mentioned it as a concern.

I have the same date! No one cares about Father's Day being the day after our wedding.

ETA: a lot of vendors I spoke with were already booked for weddings June 17, so I think it's pretty universal that it's not a big deal.

Ok thanks for the input! We are doing the ceremony outdoors in WA state so the earlier in the summer, the better chance of rain. If no one thinks it's an issue, we can just stick to the date. I just don't want to worry about it for a whole year...

It's not a huge holiday. A lot of people don't celebrate mother's day or father's day. Our wedding is the 18th.

We am getting married on June 17th, and we are excited about getting to spend Father's Day with my dad who lives far away from me. Not a big deal, if people are not going to come they won't.

Western Washington. There is always a chance of rain so we've planned for that but summers are usually pretty dry

Oh hi fellow Washingtonian. I'm on the Eastern side though Smiley tongue

Father's day weekend is fine, but if you end up moving it, I'd move it later instead of earlier.

We can't move it later because the 24th is taken and July prices are higher because it is peak season. Many family members are from other states so that is part of my concern but I suppose those who are close to us will be there either way

We're also getting married Fathers Day weekend this year. I thought maybe that's why our space at venue might have been available six months out, but we jumped at it since it was a Saturday this June.

My dad is actually excited we can deflect attention away mid-Father/Daughter dance (after pics are taken) to invite other fathers and daughters to join us. :p

ETA: My dad just had two heart surgeries last week so our dance won't be anything too thrilling to watch - not that it would have been anyway, but we were at least going to take dance lessons - till his surgery got pushed back almost a month.

It's not on father's day so you should be fine. I going to a friend's wedding the day before father's day this year's and didn't think twice about it.
