Family members participation in wedding ceremony

Alex, on February 6, 2013 at 9:15 PM Posted in Planning 0 25

How many of you ladies have family members participating in your ceremony? I have my sister-in-law as a bridesmaid, my nieces as my flower girls, my nephew as my ring bearer and my brother is going to marry us.

My sister was my MOH. But she walked down the aisle when a friend played violin and then sat beind the piano, she then played piano with our violinist while I walked down the aisle

DH 2 nephews were our groomsmen, and his cousin played bagpipes for us

We had my cousin's kids as flower girls and DH's cousin's kid as a ring bearer. Also DH's dad did the grace at the start of the meal. Beyond that, all the major players were friends (wedding party, ushers, MC).

Our BP is our family, LOL. FH's brothers are BM and GM, FH's sister is a BM, my sister is MOH, and FH's daughter & niece are BM's too. My Godmother is reading, FH's Godson is reading, and our parents are bringing up the gifts with a cousin from each side (Catholic mass). FH's daughter will also hopefully, be saying the prayer of the faithful. We haven't asked her yet.. oops.

My FH's daughter is doing a reading. Although FH has 2 brothers, and I have a brother & a sister, we are each having a friend as the MOH and Best Man. Our siblings live too far away/aren't particularly close for them to be members of the wedding party.

No Bridal party for us, but lots of other family involvement. Niece is photographer, Nephew will be writing a song w/ me for some point in the ceremony. FSIL and BIL will be doing a prayer and reading. Another nephew will be blowing the shofar (ram's horn) at sunset. Niece will be doing my hair and makeup, and another is helping w/ my dress. :-) all of this family is on FH side - I only have 1 nephew, and he's just a year old and lives in TX. My immediate family is not at all public or comfortable w/ being involved, and Im fine w/ that. Other things - like ring warming, will be done by friends.

Well, my family is huge so my whole entire bridal party is family, except for my MOH, which is my best friend. My cousins are BMs (7 of them), my brother and guy cousin are GMs, my FSILs are readers, 2 of my older cousins are personal attendants, and FH's 3 borthers are BM and GMs...Yep, it's a large wedding party! That was just the wedding party, can you imagine our guest list?!?!? Yowsers (as my nephew would say lol)!

I think Alissa N. and Lily C. take the cake on the most family members participating in their weddings! I absolutely love that so many of us are involving their families. Though I do have to admit I am a little worried about my ring bearer's attention span, but I understand when you involve kids in your ceremony you invite the possibility of some interesting moments.

My uncle was our officiant (he's a pastor), my BIL was a GM, and my dad and step dad both walked me down

Alex, my RB was 3.5 yrs with no attention span, but the problem was more with all the people looking at him. At the rehearsal we all had to turn around when he was walking down the aisle lol. At the wedding, he walked halfway down the aisle, put the bell he was ringing to announce the bride down, then ran back. So glad I got a videographer for just that moment, since I didn't get to see it live...
