Family blessing in ceremony- dad as officiant

Kimber, on July 17, 2020 at 9:13 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 4
My dad is going to officiate our wedding, but I don’t know that I want to skip the family blessing part. Does anybody have any interesting ways they have seen this done, or just any ideas?

Example text from the internet that I want to change so it makes sense with my dad as officiant:
Officiant: "Today, as we join (name) and (name) in marriage, we celebrate them as they begin a new family together. Yet we also know that this new branch of the family tree will be strengthened and enriched by the love, traditions, and knowledge of their family roots. Will you (parents' names) bless (couple's names) in their marriage? Will you celebrate them in their times of joy, and bolster them and their marriage in times of hardship? "
Answer: "We will."

To be honest, I've never seen that or any variation at past weddings.

Talk to your dad and see how to fit it in if it's important. Are there other relatives who could respond? Mom, brothers, etc?

I've never seen this either, and honesty the grammar and metaphor seem like they need a bit of work, but here's a version of how it could go, copied, pasted, and edited from your post. In this version you'd have each parent say part of it. Adjust as needed based on the number of parents:

PARENT 1 (officiant): Today, as we join [name] and [name] in marriage, we celebrate them as they begin a new family together.
PARENT 2: We know that this new branch of the family tree will be strengthened and enriched by the love, traditions, and knowledge of their family roots.
PARENT 3: Will you [the other parents' names] join me in blessing [couple's names] in their marriage?
    ALL PARENTS: We will.
PARENT 4: We will celebrate you in your times of joy, and bolster you and your marriage in times of hardship.

I’m going to rewrite the whole thing. I just grabbed an example off of the internet while I was waiting for an appointment earlier.

I like how you broke that out, but I don’t think that we will be able to get both sets of parents involved as his live in Canada. I may go with something similar.

Hi Kimber! Your dad should also know an easy way to rephrase this! I'd ask the first set of parents to respond then have your dad say something like "and now it's my/our turn, will we (their names) bless (couple's names) in their marriage...". You don't need to overthink it too much!
