Fall in Florida?

In Love with a Valley, on September 30, 2012 at 9:47 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

Hello all!

So, it's a very good thing that we're planning on marrying over a year out because we just can't make up our minds. We're moving to FL in December and we're starting to realize that we'd rather have a "destination" wedding there and bring his family to us (mine is there). Our original theme was fall- having colors like orange, red, and brown and using sunflowers, etc. We're talking about getting married on a beach and having a small reception at a waterfront restaurant. Will this clash? Should we be looking at different colors? Thanks!

Since we don't really have a fall here and you want it on the beach, brighten up the colors! Who says you have to have a wedding to match the "season"? By brighten up the colors i mean, hot pink, orange and yellow.

If you still want those colors and on the beach, I'd stay away from fall leaves and anything to "season orientated". The colors and sunflowers would still look good but just keep in mind that we have 2 seasons...hot and "maybe it will get cold this week" lol

If you need help, feel free to ask! I'm in the Tampa area

And for your guests sake, please keep in mind the temps during the day. It is SO HOT in October (I got burnt today) that you'd need to stick with cooler times of the day.

I was at a wedding at 11:30 am and I almost hated the couple by the time it was done...blazing sun and 30 min ceremonies just don't work.

We are getting married next October (late evening) and my primary color is eggplant and then accents of teal, moss and fuchsia. Fall is my favorite season, but Mrs. Clark is so right, we don't have real fall here *sigh. I will take it the best I can lol.

I doesn't really get cold until after the new year. We can back from our HM in the mountains and it was hot as crap still lol. But the evenings do get cooler on the beaches and can be quite nice.

We got married in an aquarium and our colors were Malibu, hot pink, white and black. The good thing about FL having no seasons is that anything goes! With exception to seasonal/region(like fall leaves and pumpkins) specific things and beaches lol.

Yay for another Florida bride! I'm in the Cape Coral/Fort Myers area, so I'm just alittle further south than Port Charlotte. I this you can really do any colors you want! Nothing says it has to match the season, especially since we really don't have seasons here. But I do agree with Mrs. Clark in saying that I would stay away from leaves...Let me know if I can help you in any way! Smiley smile

Hello fello FL brides!! I am in Central Fl but getting married on the West cost in Fort Myers, hello Courtney! I agree, anything goes. But be aware of the heat and humidity, as out of town guests may not be used to it! Although there is a nice breeze down by the ocean. The west coast has great sunsets, so you should be able to get away with the deep, rich fall colors you want!

Hey,beware of LOVE BUGS if you are having an outside wedding or pictures....It depends on the year but last year I remember seeing those nasty things around until late october/novemeber. If you don't know what those are they are harmless but very annoying because there are SO many of them. They fly everywhere in flocks attached to each other. Ugh they are gross lol. They get on and in everything to. Cars, clothes, hair etc.

Oh and to add to the weather. December is usually still tshirt weather. It may be "brisk" at 5am in the morning but by the time the sun comes up the clothes come off lol. In january we may have 1 week of "oh look its below 60" lol Last December for some reason it rained every weekend where I lived by the beach, so please have a back up plan...our weather is crazy unpredicatable.

Usually, the love bugs are around in May & Sept. and yes, they do a good job of getting stuck on veils, etc.

I schedule my outdoor weddings for shortly before sunset to avoid the heat. Yes, it can still be hot in Oct., but usually starts to cool a tiny bit (with a tiny drop in humidity) about mid-October.

If you switch to Nov., don't go too late in the month. I remember one Thanksgiving that was chilly and rainy (reminded me of "up north" Thanksgivings).
