Facial before the wedding

Wendy, on July 25, 2014 at 5:17 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 15

I've never had a facial but my coworkers are always raving about a spa they go to that does amazing facials. They decided to get me a gift certificate there as a wedding gift and I was thinking about booking it a couple of days before the wedding. Any reason why I shouldn't do that? Is there a chance I might break out or have a bad reaction?

Thanks.

If you have sensitive skin I wouldn't chance it a few days before the wedding. My skin isn't sensitive at all so the few times have done facials I didn't have a reaction.

At this point I would wait until after your wedding. Like you mentioned, what if you have an adverse reaction to the facial and it doesn't clear up by your wedding day? Not worth risking it in my opinion, especially if you've never had one! I went about 4 weeks before my big day and felt it was good timing.

I'd wait. The first time I got one, my face was kinda red and sensitive for a few days afterwards.

I definitely won't be introducing any new products to my face before the wedding.

I had a couple facials before the wedding and one the morning of. I was fine. Skin looked great. I can't say I was relaxed on the morning of facial at 9 am because I didn't get to bed until 3 am. But that made me want it more because I was so tired my skin needed some perking up. Get one a month before and if you're fine do it again. Just don't let them do extractions the day of, that's what makes for red spots with me at least.

The lady at the spa told me that most brides start going like 6 months before the wedding, with the last one being done the month before.

I think you are too close to your date to get your first one but schedule it for after! Something new to look forward to and enjoy. I never had a reaction to a facial before but my mom did. The solution made her face very red for about 48 hours!

I'm planning on getting a facial about 2 weeks before the wedding. I love facials. You'll definitely enjoy it!

OMG dont do it. instead treat yourself to a nice massage or hand/feet treatments. Facials include extractions which could make your face red/cause scabbing from popped blemishes.

Nooo! My coworker gets regular facials but a few days before the wedding they switched her product to something that was supposed to be "extra special." Her face reacted, looked like it was sunburned, peeled ON her wedding day, and her photographer actually re-shot her close up photos a few weeks later because the damage was impossible to hide. When I heard this I felt horrible for her. Don't change up your routine right before the wedding!

Everything I have heard from makeup artists is to do a facial at least a week before your wedding. A few days would be chancing it. I'd probably do mine 2 weeks out.

The one I got on the day of was just a moisturizing facial - they didn't do extractions and it was very hydrating. But my skin doesn't usually react to facials unless it's stronger products and extractions. If I do break out it's not until like 3 days later, so that's why it seemed fine the morning of. I even got a light peel 5 days before the wedding and I was freaking out! They assured me it was part of their bridal package (this was after IPL) I trusted them and it was fantastic! But get used to some facials, don't start your wedding day for sure.
