Excessive arm hair?!?! *update*

Jennifer, on May 24, 2012 at 12:14 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 26

So After studying a picture of me in my dress I realize the I 1 have extremely excessive arm hair @ it's jet black and I'm relatively pale... So this leads to the age old question...

Do I shave it? Bleach it? or just leave it be and have ape arms?

*update*

Today I did a trial run... On a small patch on one arm I used nair... On a small patch on the other I shaved it....

I'm going to wait a few days to see the results but as of right now the area I shaved is much smoother!

Haha im not laughing at you but i think its so funny bc i never thought about it but i have friends who will make fun of me and say o wow you have so much peach fuz on your arms. It's light blonde so you really dont notice it until your on top of it or if i have major goose bumps...I started to think about it more and more with the wedding coming and all, so I naired it the other day, it was that or trim it down and i thought mair was a better idea lol.

I was afraid to shave it bc i thought it may grow back prickly! so far its coming back slightly but not rough at all, nor is it itchy!! maybe try that

Wax or bleach you do not want to shave arm hair the stubble is worse than the offending hair itself I say try bleach firest and if that doesnt satisfy you wax find your local cosmetology school and have them do it. It is remarkably cheaper and they have all the health & safty points drilled into them so they'll not be lazy about pain managment and hygene.

I wouldn't shave it.. it will be a bigger problem in the long run. I would say be you and leave it, but if it really bothers you maybe bleach it.

I'd recommend something that you can test out in advance. Bleaching can upset your skin. There is also waxing which is nice that it lasts for some time. There is also buffing. It's basically very gentle sandpaper which buffs the hair off. It tends to work well for some people as it doesn't involve chemicals and gently exfoliates your skin. I use it on my legs sometimes when shaving is getting to me and it leaves my legs like silk.

I'd probably say to stay away from Nair type products, as they can irritate a lot and don't last that long, and you do not want irritated skin for your wedding!

Whatever you go with, practice in advance a couple of times to make sure that you get the results you want.

I disliked bleaching because the color changes back way too fast. wax didnt work very well on mine.. i have been shaving them for like 12 years now and do not regret it. i shave them maybe every 4-5 days. the grow back is really quite slow and they look so much better

FYI- your lower arms will look skinnier once the hair is gone too!! i noticed that once when i let it grow back and then when i finally got rid of it again i was like "wow"

If you had more time I'd recommend laser treatments to get rid of it longer term. I did it for my under arms, bikini and legs and LOVE the results. I don't need to shave my underarms or bikini anymore. It takes a long time though.... 6-12 treatments each 6 weeks apart. If you're really pale and have dark hair it works great. I have peach fuzz arms like @Kirst so I can't do laser on them. I'm just letting them be. Smiley smile

I shave mine. Use lots of shaving cream for your arms and moisturize afterwards.

I've been shaving since high school~ it's thinned out and gotten lighter. It used to be super dark and long. I probably shave every other week, if that, to keep it in check.

My grandmother is an aesthetician.. I have the arm hair issue, as well- it's not jet black or anything, but I notice it & it bothers me..

She suggested waxing it, and I'd never just bleach or trim or shave it - ever. Definitely never shave, it makes your hair coarse. But I'd defintiely suggest going to a professional and having them waxed. The more you do it, also, the lighter & more fine the hair comes in- a definite plus!!

I shave my upper arms and just use a personal trimmer on the lower arm. Then again, I have light blonde hair. It has never come back thick or stubbly. I probably do it once a week.

I use Sensitive Skin Nair on mine and it works perfectly for me. It doesnt grow back as fast as it would when I shave.

Oh my gosh, I have the same problem and it is not cute.

I actually use Nair on my arms and I have really sensitive skin. I wax the other unwanted hair but the arms was just too much surface area for me to get waxed lol. The nair is great, the hair doesn't come back stubbly and it last about 3 weeks!
