Estimated vs Actual Guest Count

I had originally invited 220 people the wedding. I knew there would be a few that wouldn't make it due to travel expenses (living halfway across the world), which I expected. What I didn't expect was only having a final guest count of 113. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad to save some money, but I can't...

We invited 229 and had 169 attend. The wedding was out of state (but within a few hours' drive) for maybe half of our guest list. I was surprised and a little upset about our final number, we expected more around 180-190.

We invited ~80 people for our DW. Our invites just went out, but judging from the hotel block and people telling us, we are expecting more than 60 people, if not 75. We have a 50 person minimum at our venue.

@Colleen, what are you going to do if not enough people decline?? Venues have maximums for a reason.

We invited 99, and as of right now, we will have no more than 84 (our RSVP deadline is this Friday). We did extend plus ones to all single guests, so that accounted for some of the declines. There's a family that adds up to 7 potential guests that no one can get a hold of (invite came back return to sender, and a text got back a "you have the wrong number"), so our number could be significantly lower. Our venue minimum was 75, so we will more than likely be above it, or potentially just below it.

I just ordered my invites. We are inviting 122, and I'm hoping for 85 to 100 guests.

We're inviting 120, and expecting 100. Barring something catastrophic, FH's family have all told us they will absolutely be there no matter what. My family is the same way.

We invited 182 and 113 said yes. (108 actually attended; two no-shows that I'm salty about, two dealing with a family emergency, and one who had to work at the last minute)

We had a higher-than-average decline rate for a few reasons: we gave all single guests plus ones and only one person brought someone, extended family is all out of town, and we invited quite a few elderly/infirm guests who we always knew wouldn't be able to make it.

Our guest list is up to 180, but our guaranteed minimum is 100 (our venue can hold 300), and it's OK to go over. I haven't even sent out our STDs yet, but they are going to a much smaller number than the 180 on my list. Hoping for 130-150. There are about 20 people who I don't think will be able to make it to begin with.

It's also on the Friday before the Fourth of July.

We have final count of 189 out of 250 invited. Lots of international guests couldn't make it (FH is Irish). Also it's Labor Day weekend.

We invited 110 (knew about 10 would not show due to travel restrictions). We had 65 RSVP Yes and then 55 actually showed. We were notified a couple days prior by most of the no shows. There is only one couple we have not heard anything from on why they didn't show.

We invited around 210. So far at 148 yes, 17 no, and waiting to hear back from about 45 people. We've had a lot of people add guests but still hoping to end up around 175.

@Colleen - What are you going to do if not even people decline and then your venue is turning them away at the door because that limit is apart of their fire code??? How do you decide who to turn away at the door.

That was a really bad idea and I hope you have a good solution.

We invited about 180 and only ended up with 140. I was really surprised that so many people couldn't make it. We had a minimum as well and used the extra budget for signature drinks and late night snacks. It worked out perfect.

@Colleen- not a good idea. I went to a wedding last summer that had 100% attendance and not enough room. The venue charged extra for each person over the minimum and they ended up spending a few thousand dollars.

We invited 90 guests. With the RSVP deadline today, based on received RSVPs we have 53 accepts with 16 undecided. If I include people who have told our parents they are attending (grrr), we are at 63 confirmed and 6 undecided. I think we are likely to end up around 65.

150 invites sent out and so far we have 38 yes and 2 no. Our RSVP date is not until September 15th so we still have some time. Some have already text me to let me know they have received their invite but need to wait to closer to the rsvp date due to finding out if they can get off work or not. Some are waiting for sporting/school activity schedules to be finalized. My venue does not have a minimum or anything so I am very thankful for that.

Our goal was 65, we invited 81 and are now at 66 so I feel awesome about it, but would be very sad if someone said they were coming and did not - do people really do that? (note, obviously we would have happily accommodated the 81 if all said yes)
