Essential or Extra? - Dessert options beyond the cake

Are you having any extra dessert options for your guests at your reception? Beyond the cake--- are you including a dessert table, doing something unconventional like a pie bar, planning a donut wall, or arranging a late-night/midnight snack? Is this essential or extra? Hi Pom! I love the idea of a brunch wedding. What kind of breakfast foods will you be serving? The pancake station is such a cute addition! Smiley heart

Thanks, we're excited. There will also be chicken and waffles, vegetable frittata, home fries, bacon and sausage.

We're only doing a cutting cake for FH and I. We will have a s'mores and ice cream bar for guests. For our gluten free and vegan guests we have cupcakes for them.

The baker who is making our cake is doing the cupcakes. We plan on keeping the cupcakes separate so people won't take them by mistake.

We wanted a dessert buffet (small shot sized desserts) so we're doing a small cake, mostly just for the cutting ceremony

It's essential for us as I want to include some of our favorites. We are having a dessert table in addition to our cake and also having some candy. There will also be a grooms cake which in my area is traditionally served at the reception. I'm looking forward to having some of our favorites especially some that are cherished family receipes. I want the dessert table to reflect our family history and childhoods. Some of the desserts will be unexpected so I'm looking forward to seeing the guests reactions to those as I plan on having mini pies made from pawpaws, creme puffs, lavender macaroons and chocolates made with goat milk in addition to a variety of other desserts. My wedding is immediate family so I look forward to seeing their reaction as they taste desserts that have been passed down through the generations as well as some they aren't familiar with.

Desert table! One, my family lives in the kitchen every family get together has an insane amount of sweets. Two, I taught my FH how to make apple pie on our first date, so we want to do a nod to that in our dessert options.

My fiance and I are doing a dessert bar for our reception. We will have a cake, along with some cupcakes, donuts, and pies for everyone to be able to choose from.

We will probably include some apple pie since it is one of my fiance's favorites and its also once of the iconic southern pies. Haven't completely decided on what other pies we are going to have just yet. We are toying with the idea of having a smores bar because I love smores, theyre like one of my favorite things in the world.

If you're going all out and ordering a big ol' cake that's like 4 or 5 tiers, i think more desserts are excessive. i have seen, on SO MANY occasions, that people don't eat the wedding cake. you'd have better luck getting a smaller cake and other desserts, in my opinion

I have yet to think about it. I know the venue will supply the cake, but then one month after our wedding we will be having a reception.

Great point, Rachel! I agree, if it's a big, extravagant cake then cake is all you need for the grand dessert option! Smiley smile Wheras, if you're looking to do a small cake and/or alternative dessert options instead, that's another good route too!

Extra. We will be having multiple flavored cakes to include additional sheet cakes for more flavors and it cut cost as well.

We probably will do something like have cupcakes or cookies. That way the kids can all enjoy some type of dessert while they are having to wait for us to cut the cake.

We had a “late night milk & cookie bar”: similar to Pittsburgh cookie table. My sister, aunt and I made the cookies and we got milk from a local dairy (who still does home delivery and milk is in glass qt bottles!). We had personalized takeout bags on the table too. Was a hit!
