For our wedding, we did per couple.

For Cate's wedding, she is doing one per person as well mainly because she loves the way they look. That match everything else on the table perfectly. Kelly King did an awesome job.

If they had a meal choice, the hall usually likes you to note that some how on the escort card. If there is a meal choice, you would need one per person.

Echoing above, if you're doing buffet, I don't think it would be a big deal to do one per family.

Thanks guys. I'm leaning towards 1 per person. We are having a buffet so no meal choice needed though.

The wedding we just went to last weekend had them by couple which was why I was wondering. Unfortunately there was no meal choice on the card which would have been nice. They just asked at the table before they served (despite choosing our entrees on the RSVP). My FH asked for flounder, and I asked for chicken. They brought my FH chicken and me the rib eye steak. I had them get me a chicken instead. My FH didn't even bother asking for his flounder.

The great thing is that this day is about YOU and what you want! Unless there are requirements due to plated meals at the reception, the choice is really yours.

From an etiquette standpoint, however, most brides do choose to have individual cards. So your personal and etiquette preferences should lead the way Smiley smile

Yea, it was kinda annoying. That was really the only thing that went wrong at the wedding though that I could see as a guest. There was another girl who didn't even get served at our table. Someone had to get their attention that she didn't get a meal. Although when it came down to it, it didn't matter what they brought me as I could only force myself to eat 3 bites of it. They really over did it on the food, and after cocktail hour (at 7), I had absolutely no room for dinner (at 9).

We are doing one per family/ couple; but our escort cards are shaped like golf balls and attached to a tied bunch of 3 tees. Doing one for everyone just totally overwhelmed me

FutureMrsOhler.....It's those kind of stories(re messed up food orders) that keep me awake at night. We all also fear that Cate's cocktail hour is going to stuff the guests. At the price per plate, I hate seeing wasted food.

We are doing one per person. Even the kiddos. We have a plated dinner and we are going to color coordinate the cards yellow for chicken, red for beef.
