Escort Card Etiquette... Need HELP!!

Marilyn, on January 1, 2013 at 3:53 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12

So I am doing escort cards by table, not individual place cards.

Can I put a couple's name on the escort cards? As in "Tony and Sharon ___". They are coming together, and will be seated at the same table. Is that appropriate? Or are you supposed to have individual escort cards for everyone...

Thanks!

I think listing them as a couple is perfectly appropriate!

That's a great idea! I have not heard of any hard and fast rules on escort cards so I don't see a problem. Also cuts down the total cards people have to look through to fond theirs:l

I think doing it that way is just fine.

I plan to put couples names.... I'm not doing assigned seats only assigned tables so I dont see the need for everyone to have their own. still trying to figure out how I will do it because I am having kiddo's at my wedding for sure

I wouldn't do it this way, and here's why: some couples don't have the same last name. It'll create a bottleneck when they stand there searching for their card because they don't know whose name is listed under. I've seen it happen.

I'm doing one escort card per person.

I've been thinking of doing ours by table rather than individual place cards as well. And I think couples / families names are fine. I've never seen any rules either way, really.

Megan, we also have children that will be attending....I am thinking of doing the cards "Mr & Mrs ____ & family"... (parent(s) and child(ren). Or two lines...Parents names on top line, child(s) name(s) on second line.

Individual cards is helpful when they had a meal selection.

Thanks guys! My escort cards have two lines too. And I have 10 kids coming.. I am not sure how to do that.

Maybe Parent 1 and Kid 1, Kid 2, Kid 3 (like list them all...)?

For the couples that have different names I think I will do separate cards. I was more talking about married couples. We don't really have a lot of dating couples coming, mostly married couples...

Also we don't have meal selections, we have a buffet.

Sounds like it will be fine, especially since you are doing a buffet.

    Happy New Year!

I did it by couple, even if they had different last names, for people with children I would just put the parents name and say "and family".

    Hi Marilyn,

Another great idea that can also cut down in price is picture frame seating charts. Im not sure how good you are with DIY but I have done it for parties and it still looks great!
