We got engaged this past August and our wedding is May 4, 2019. Original plan was for Fall 2018, but no venue we were interested in had openings for 2018! I'm glad we're taking he extra time to figure things out!

I got engaged on Christmas 2016 and am already married. Almost ten months. We wanted it to be quick and had money saved.

We've been engaged since November 2015 and aren't getting married until June 2018 so it'll be about 2 years and 7 months for us. At first, it felt super long, but time really flew by. It gave us plenty of time to save up for the wedding of our dreams without being overly stressed out about it. However, to each their own. Do whatever will work best for you.

We got engaged July 9, 2016 and married December 28th, 2016. It was a shorter than usual engagement, but we also lived 5 hours apart and didn't want to wait the usual year or so. It definitely worked and I didn't feel rushed planning anything. Smiley smile

We were engaged for 11 months

    (Jan 1, 2017 - Dec 2, 2017)

ETA: We originally wanted a Fall wedding, but didn't want to wait over a year to get married since we had already been together for 9 years, and most of the Fall dates were booked at the venues we wanted, which is how we ended up with December. It worked out because that Saturday ended up being 50 degrees and sunny, which is unusual for the Chicago area this time of year. We also didn't need to save up any money - we're both in our late 20s with zero debt so we were fine in that aspect. There is no "right" time frame for engagements. Every couple is different!

We got engaged this past May and don't get married until Oct. next year. so, a year and 5 months. We've been together for 8 years already which I think is why it's both hard and easy waiting so long, but we just graduated and needed to find jobs when we got engaged so we gave ourselves plenty of time to get settled. But I'd be lying if I said now that we are settled I'm not going crazy waiting haha..

We were engaged exactly eight months and it was the most hectic thing I've ever done. In retrospect I wish we would have had a long engagement (around 2-3 years!)

We are getting married almost a year to the date when we got engaged. We were engaged on 2/14/2017 and will be married 2/18/2018. We chose the date because it was "cool", it was during the winter in Phoenix and it is a 3 day weekend.

Engaged December 2016, wedding May 2018. To me that felt like the perfect amount of time to plan, especially because I'm still in school. It's far enough out to book all your top choice vendors. It gives you plenty of time to relax and enjoy being engaged instead of feeling rushed and stressed about wedding planning. We were also able to break up tasks and spread them over long periods of time, so I haven't experienced any wedding stress yet. But the lull can also be tough- at this point we're just ready for the big day to be here! If I wasn't in school, I think 12-14 months would be perfect Smiley smile

By the time we are married we will have a 41 month engagement haha. Honestly length of engagement being "too long" is all subjective. Some people thing 2 yrs is long some people think 10 yrs is long. It all matters who you ask Smiley smile

Our engagement was seven months. I consider anything over one year to be a long engagement.

    Factors playing into our decision:

Together 5 years before getting engaged, didn't need any time to get to know each other

In our 30s, so if we want to have kids need to start soon (I'm 33).

Didn't want to have kids before marriage.

Didn't need a lot of time to save money, as our wedding was relatively inexpensive (~17k) and we have savings.

I love fall, and timing worked out well for us to have a fall wedding.

In retrospect it was a really good amount of time, because there was enough time to plan stuff and even some lulls where I had a couple weeks of not doing much wedding stuff, but it wasn't long enough to have time to stress out about minor decisions.

We got engaged July 4, 2016 and will get married Sept 29, 2018.

We didn't feel the need to rush things and wanted to make sure we could comfortably have things paid off without having to stress over money or anything like that.

I've got a friend who was married over a year ago, put everything on credit cards, got a second job, and is still trying to get that paid off.
