Engagement photo must-haves???

Allison, on May 16, 2018 at 1:27 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9

Hi everyone!

We have scheduled our engagement photo shoot for June 13th and I am already obsessing over it!

Wondering if anyone has any advice on must-have poses or things that came out really well or looked really cute? I'd love your feedback!

Also obsessing over what to wear, is it better to keep it simple (like black dress) or wear a cute floral pattern?

Obviously overthinking it but it's so much pressure I just want it to be perfect! Thanks in advance!!

Best,

Allison

I can show you some of ours, if you'd like. You can get an idea of poses. I studied a lot of engagement photos to see what poses we'd like best and wouldn't look entirely awkward. Your photographer will play a big key here - they need to make you feel at ease so that you come out natural in the pictures.

I like simplicity in outfits for photo shoots. They typically photograph better. A black dress is a statement piece, and you can always do something different with your hair and jewelry.

Make sure to eat at some point during the day - we did an all day session and forgot to eat... which we greatly regretted.

Don't overthink it! It's so much fun. I'm sure you guys will love the end result Smiley smile

This is harder than it looks lol we had to run this about 15 times until we got the right pose. It's VERY tiring lolEngagement photo must-haves??? 1

Simple pose, but a loved one. Smile and think happy thoughts like bunnies and kitties lolEngagement photo must-haves??? 2I love the secretive poses. Someone gave me advice to stay away from busy patterns on clothing, and it was actually really helpful. I was told patterns can get a little distracting sometimes and maybe (depending on what it is) clash in the photos. I kept it simple- jeans, flowy black tank, red knit cardigan, and a necklace. And of course, wear what you feel comfortable in and would normally wear. Keep it true to yourself. Smiley smile Also, it's nice to coordinate with your FH but my photographer said not to be too matching (my FH wore jeans and a darker navy sweater).

I just had my shoot this Monday and we literally couldn't decide what we were wearing until 2 hours before! I do agree though to just watch for how busy your patterns are! We of course haven't gotten the photos yet but he showed us a few right after before editing and my biggest take away was to pose however you would naturally pose! For example I always hold his hand with 2 hands not one and those pictures looked way better then the ones that I held with one! So whatever you and him naturally do will feel more comfortable and be more you which will make you live them way more!

I agree with @Jax don't use too busy patterns keep it simple it makes it so elegant. I pinned a lot of engagement pictures from pinterest to get inspiration. Also your photographer will know how to pose you guys. Trust your photographer and if there are poses you really want to do make sure your photographer knows this too.
