Ahhhh I always wanted to do something like this but we were too scared that out of state guests who we really wanted there (like bridal party and family) wouldn't be able to budget travel to make the engagement party. So awesome it worked out for you!!! Looks amazing.

You look beautiful and congratulations. Not to be a downer, but I just don't see how this is possible, especially inexpensively. How did you get a caterer with such little notice? How did your dress suddenly become available for overnight shipping (unless you bought it online)? How was the DJ not already booked? While all this may have worked for you, I doubt it would work for most without costing an arm and a leg.

Hi Elizabeth, great questions! We already had a caterer for the party, my mom called and had them increase the menu. I used gigmasters to find a DJ because if you click to request a quote for anyone you can check to accept 5 additional ones so it's easy to find someone who is available. I had already bought my dress from London and Lace in Columbia SC, and they are amazing! They called the company and had 4 seamstresses make and ship it out. I am not claiming it was a cheap wedding but it saved us thousands because there were 1/3 of the people to feed, it was at my parents house so I saved on venue fees as well as rentals for tent,/table/chair/tablecloth/china rentals and I switched to a DJ instead of a band. Overall it was perfect and everything worked out.
