Engagement Party Thank You Gifts

FutureMrsMaidenName, on May 31, 2016 at 9:03 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4

My dad, step-mom, and mom are hosting an engagement party for FH and I this Saturday and I am trying to think of thank-you gifts for them. My dad and step-mom are flying in from CA where they live to do this in MN where FH and I live (my mom also lives in MN). We are completely blown away with the amount of thoughtfulness they have put into doing this and I really want to show our appreciation.

Some more background on my dad and step-mom - both of my dad's parents recently passed away and he and my step-mom used well over a month of their vacation time to be in Colorado to take care of things there and now very recently they have been dealing with a lot of issues around my step-sister. For them to also take the time they have to throw a party for us amid the chaos in their life is really amazing to me.

Normally for all holidays and birthdays I give my dad and step-mom $50 Southwest Airlines giftcards, but I would like to do something different.

TIA!

My dad and step-mom don't really have anything specific they like to do. They are very wrapped up in my 5 year old nephew and working on their house. My mom's only hobby is the gym, but I feel like I buy her workout clothes and supplements for every gift giving occasion. I think I'll keep searching etsy.

If they like working on their house maybe a gift card to Lowes or Home Depot? My parents are the same way and we get them gift cards for one of those places.

You can always get crafty and go to Michael's and make them something thoughtful like a scrapbook of the event, complete with pictures and cute page decor, or a handmade frame with a picture of you with them inside, sometimes a thoughtful non expensive gesture is as wonderful to receive as a gift card! I gave food and wine pairing cookbooks to my engagement party hostesses. Maybe something that could be used in the home? Picture frames are always good. My cousin and MOH loved the cookbooks.
