Ok, so I know that when I was really close to being engaged and other couples got engaged I would feel a twinge of jealousy for them being engaged and not me. I know that's normal...

But now that I am engaged, and other people are getting engaged (it seems like this year is the year of the engagement in my circle!! it must come in waves), I am also feeling a little bit of the green eyed monster. I don't even know if it's jealousy per se, but more like I feel a tiny twinge of idk what that there are more engagements to kind of steal the spotlight. Don't get me wrong, I am super happy for these people, I just wish they would have waited until later to get engaged, haha.

I just have to keep reminding myself that it's silly to feel that way and that I need to happy happy for them! Our weddings and engagements are totally separate and I can still be happy for them and have my own wonderful experience. Anyone else experience these feelings?

Yup been there, not anymore. Once I got engaged that stopped but major jealously over babies! My MOH just birthed her 2nd and he's the most perfect little guy ever! And our other close friend birthed her 2nd 5 days before so TWO brand new babies! And there's an average of 2-3 new gals a week in my FB announcing their pregnancies (most of them unmarried) makes me jealous but even more excited for us to start trying in June! Yippie! Our turn!

I know the feeling. One of my friends has only been dating her boyfriend for a few months, but I heard her talking about buying a house with him. I really want a house, but I know it will be years before we can afford it, so I was a little jealous.

I think what really annoys me though is when people whose relationships aren't really serious, long-term, or stable start acting like their relationship is equal to or better than mine. I know it's stupid, but that bugs me.

There were quite a few people who got engaged and married all after we got engaged. We had to wait two years to marry, so I was a little jealous of those who got hitched right away! Haha. But at the same time, I've enjoyed our long engagement, with very little stress. Smiley smile

I get like that too...a coworker of mine is "planning a wedding" and although she tries to tell me suggestions, I feel like she has a problem with not being the center of attention or something. Not only that but half the time she acts like they are on the brink of breaking up till the next week and then their find again.

    It's very annoying.

I never had jealousy myself because we were engaged so quickly but I know that pissed off a lot of friends who had been in relationships for a lot longer to the point they'd force their spouse to propose... Don't you want them to want to ask you? Noy have made them do it?

Yeah i'm right there with you. We were friends with a couple that got engaged and like 4 months married. They thought it was NBD and were trying to pay for it themselves, we gave them the reality of it because of where they wanted it and the parents paid for it, so i got envious of that since we won't be married until the 2 yr mark after them.

Also one of my BM's and FBIL(GM) ended up just nonchalantly mentioning to everyone they will be planning a DW and they'll be paying for everyone's flight because they've been engaged since last summer. Which is BS because this was the 1st time any of us had heard about it and she had given him an ultimatum lol. She's just trying to do it because she can't stand being the center of attention and wants hers to be bigger and better no matter what. So that just irks me, not so much jealous just annoyed.

I felt it when my best friend got engaged, but I pushed it aside and offered to help with anything she needed. However, she is waiting a couple of years and is planning to elope.

Yet, when I got engaged she pulled away. Hardly talks to me anymore and never asks about the wedding. She even declined to be a bridesmaid. Smiley sad

For me, I am the last to get engaged and married, so FINALLY it is my turn. But because most of my friends / fsils are already married they are on the baby train. I have 5 people who will be pregnant or with newborns by the time our wedding rolls around. 2 already said they aren't coming. Nice huh? Just give us OUR spotlight dammit!!

I know when my co-worker got engaged before me I was a little jealous. But everything in all it's own good time. I got an amazing proposal and I am glad I didn't rush him with it.

I definitely experienced as well. My cousin got engaged in November 2011, then my MOH December 2011. I knew mine was coming but felt so inpatient but my day came finally April 2012. And I really haven't felt jealousy since then. Mostly frustration. My MOH instead of being able to discuss planning and excitement together she makes judgy comments about everything I talk about and it pisses me off.mi have altogether stopped talking to her about my details and joined forces with all you beautiful ladies! It's so nice to come here and be able to be excited and discuss wedding planning !thank you all!

Wow...That just seems rude. I mean I know you shouldn't expect everybody to just give you the spotlight but to purposely do crap like that?? Really uncalled for.

@andrea wow that is really annoying! I like the move you pulled! That was so shaddy of your brothers gf! My MOH got engaged before me and her friend got engaged after her but before me. I wanted and have always wanted a fall wedding. When my MOH picked her date in September he friend was talking about October so I started panicking that even tho I wasn't engaged yet I would be soon and my dreams of a fall wedding wouldn't work out. My MOHs friend ended up picking August she was upset and asked me to please not get married before her which I was ok with I ended up picking a November date to make sure we had enough time between our dates.

An exBM got the town talking when she ended up engaged a week after I got my ring. Granted, she had known I was planning a wedding for months, but then suddenly there she is with a ring. I didn't think anything of it until everyone else did. Then things started to go downhill between us. I hope she'll be happy, but she won't be at my wedding, so there! lol

I am the same way! Everyone I knew had been dating less time than us and they were all getting engaged..we had things we wanted to do before getting married (like finish building and paying for our house) and we agreed on this, but I would still be a tiny bit jealous when someone got engaged or pregnant. Buutt, we are in our house and we are getting married, and babies will be shortly after!! I think every engaged girl probably thinks that at one time.

We got engaged at the end of december and beginning of january my brothers best friend (who my parents basically raised so he is like my brother) left for the Army. The first night he was gone him and his gf, who had been together off and on for 1 1/2 years, got engaged. Over the phone?? It was weird. and sometime this month he gets a weekend pass and she is flying up there so they can get married. That kind of annoys me. partially Because they are doing it before us and mostly because they aren't ready for this kind of commitment. But we shall see how it works out

I do get that about wanting a baby too..i met my, now ex, when i was almost 30..so my clock was ticking loud lol.. He had a daughter already so I was a step mom first and that was no picnic but when we had our daughter, it was harder than i thought, financial and space.. we just had a small two bedroom apt.

I just suggest to try to put as much money away as you can before having a baby..it's so costly. I dont regret it at all, but i wish i had more cash saved.

I work w a girl in her mid 20's and she's startin to plan her wedding and she keeps talking about having a baby too. I tell her how much I spend just for my daughter alone when i get her clothes..her eyes pop out lol..but it's true, they always need things.

I had a similar thing with babies. My husband and I planned our baby, like to the day. Lol I found out I was pregnant right before Christmas, and I wanted to wait until Christmas to announce it. I had this cute thing planned with a onesie that said "I <3 Grandma & Grandpa" that I was going to give my dad and stepmom to break the news. Well, about 3 days after I found out, my youngest sister found out SHE was pregnant too. She was still living at home with our dad but had been visiting her mom in TN and met a guy, yadda yadda yadda. She totally stole my good news thunder with her drama. Lol Plus, I had an easy pregnancy and she constantly had some complaint and was going to the ER (there was nothing wrong, she's just a crybaby). I felt like it was all about her all the time. THEN she goes and has the ONLY GIRL among all the grandkids. Sometimes I still feel like my kid gets forgotten and hers gets special treatment. Wow, thanks for stirring up all of this hidden resentment. Lol
