Engaged unofficially on second date...we were going to elope on a trip to Aruba one month after our first date (and first meeting). We were officially engaged (the whole shebang) 9 months later...and we will be married 2 months after our first date.

We agreed we were going to get married with in the first 6 months of us dating. But we offically didn't announce were engaged until 2 years after us dating when he offically proposed. =]]. When we get married we will have been together for over 4 years.

Started dating in May of 09. FH started mentioning marriage shortly after the holidays. A month ago he pushed to have to wedding before we move to Maui in November. No real proposal, more of a, we have to do this now so our family can attend. Of course I was okay with it. Smiley smile

Wow i def don't belong is this discussion but it's neat to see how many different lengths of relationships there are. me and my FH moved in together after 5 months of dating, started talking about marriage around 3.5 years, and he proposed to me in Nov 09 (on my birthday) after we were together 4.5 years. we will be together a little over 6 years when we get married in September of 2011. best of luck to everyone who is getting married in May!!!!

We weren't technically engaged in the first year, though we talked heavily about it from very early on. We did get pregnant within the first year, but that pregnancy ended in miscarriage. Now we have 2 kids and just had our 4th anniversary. I honestly thought he'd never actually propose and we'd just eventually get married, but he did propose FINALLY. I think it's perfectly reasonable to get engaged/married quickly in many circumstances. I do think some people rush into it when they probably shouldn't, but that's their choice in life to make.

Wow - I can't believe there were so many (relatively) quick proposals. I've been down this path once before, and was engaged within 3 months of meeting my now ex-husband. We married a year and a half after meeting (though it was long distance, and at that point we had only really spent about 6 months together), and were divorced just over a year later. It was certainly a case of "fools rush in" for us, unfortunately.

My FH and I bought a house and moved in together a year after we started dating. He proposed 2.5 years into our relationship, and we will have been together for 4 years when we get married. I prefer it this way - for me, slow and steady is winning the race. I actually would have been happy to wait another year or two before getting to this point, but my FH is a bit older than me and we're concerned about being able to start a family at some point.

I do love a good "I just met the man I'm gonna marry" story though! Smiley smile

We got engaged just four days ago, 8 months after we began dating. We will be together about 2 years when we get married.

Weve been together 8 months and now. I popped the question last week after meeting his parents and going on a ten state road trip with him and our son. Who he is gonna adopt soon.
