Electronic Thank You’s?

Alyssa, on February 26, 2022 at 9:52 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 12
We sent our save the dates electronically. We sent out paper invitations, but had guests only RSVP through our website. I’m thinking about doing thank you cards electronically, but would anyone be offended by that? My opinion is it’s the thought that counts and I also like that they would be able to respond Smiley smile

As long as it was still a personalized Thank You, and not a mass generic Thank You, that would be totally fine with me!

I agree with this. Electronic is fine as long as each individual one is personalized

Not everyone may get them if they don’t regularly check email. It also may get routed to the junk folder where they don’t see it. While some don’t care if they get a thank you, you do need to send them to everyone promptly and a regular card is easiest, and who doesn’t love a card in the mailbox that isn’t a bill?. They don’t have to be personalized with wedding pictures on the front but make sure they acknowledge the guests and any gifts they gave.

Many may not like this but you’ve asked people to give up a day to celebrate you. They got dressed up, some out on a bra which nowadays isn’t easy, spent money on a gift and even more on gas to get there. Sending a card in the mail shows that you appreciated that. But again, it’s your choice. If you yourself wouldn’t be offended then it’s likely your family and guests won’t either.

Thank you's are important. I think I'd prefer a handwritten card.

Handwritten and by mail feels more sincere and formal

As a guest, I'd prefer a handwritten note because it shows that the couple truly took the time to thank me

I'm always happy to get a thank you - but much happier when it's a handwritten card in the mail.

Definitely hand written notes are more personable.
I recently received a thank you text from someone after I took the time to mail a generous baby shower gift. 👎

I rarely get personal emails-- it's either work -related or a mass emailings from stores. A handwritten card conveys more appreciation for your guests who took the day to be with you, and greater sincerity if they decide to gift you.

No. Not electronic thank you. That is tackless. You appreciate your guests coming and celebrating the most important day for you; you need to step it up and send out thank you cards. I still have mine from a wedding I attended. They will treasure these more than a thankless, electronic card.

I agree with the handwritten note. It's old-fashioned, but there's a reason we still do it.

It also just shows the guest that you took the time to thank them. People save thank you cards, they delete emails.
