Editing own Wedding Video

I pretty much only like the editing of $10K videos, but I have experience editing film. We are only purchasing the raw footage of the video and I’ll edit it. I’m also hiring a voice over actor to read a beautiful poem. For some reason I hate the voices of the wedding parties over most films... but found one that did this and I LOVED it (with music in the back as well).

An I super weird or are any other brides out there also editing their own video?

We are doing the same. We have an awesome videographer shooting in 4K from beginning to end. We are getting all the raw footage and pulling picture stills and editing the video ourselves.

YES! I'm happy someone else is choosing to do this! Did you like his ability to shoot but prefer to have the creative ability to put it together? What drove your decision?

It was so much money for 10 mins of an edited film!! I’d rather figure it out myself and we have the computer processing power to do it. Down the road if I get lazy I can find a cheaper alternative that edits too.

I don’t have experience editing video so I wouldn’t even try, but it’s awesome that you do! I don’t think it’s much different than me making my own cake or doing my flowers, both things I have experience with, except you don’t be on a deadline to get it done! With the raw footage you can play with it until you get it just the way you want it and save lots of money. Some of the photographers I researched are teamed with videographers to offer package deals and wow they are pricey for just highlights videos 7-10 minutes long! With you creating a video you love hopefully you’ll be more likely to watch it!

Absolutely they are pricy!!! It is exactly the same thing! I could never make my own cake!!! I'm crazy impressed that you can bake that well!!!

My husband said he could make it too since our friend had compiled a ton of high quality video clips of pretty much everything. So I don't think it's weird you're doing your own. In fact that's kind of cool because you get to have it exactly how you want it.

That sounds like an awesome idea! I also have experience editing videos, and that’s something I’ve never even thought about doing until now! It might be even better since you can edit it exactly the way you want to. Thanks for the idea! 😊
