Dream Dress Did you actually like it?

Dessa, on October 14, 2020 at 2:49 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 21
So I’m having my dream dress shipped to a nearby salon for me to try on. I had to order a loaner dress from the designer because it’s from 2018. Here’s the kicker. I haven’t been dress shopping yet! It’s a mermaid gown and I haven’t even tried on shapes to make sure I like that style on me. I’ve went through so many hoops and loops to get this dress here I just hope I love it. Has anyone been dead set on a dress and tried it on? Did you love it? Did you hate it? I’m scared my hearts going to be broken and I’m going to cry in this boutique Sunday.

I had a dream dress! I thought for sure she would be the one, to where I ended up buying one off a secondhand website in my size. I tried on different sizes in various bridal stores and I thought that it was because the samples didn't fit me, but it ended up being the way the front was stitched made me look short and wide. I REALLY wanted it to work but I ended up going with a different dress that was kind of similar.

Edit: I was able to return the one I bought!

I had a “dream dress” also. I saw it online and became obsessed with it at first sight. I scoured the Internet and found every single picture I could possibly find of it. Once the line finally dropped and was available in stores, I called every store in my state that carries that designer looking for someone that had a sample. When that didn’t produce any results, I started calling the next state over, where I finally found one! I ended up having to drive over 5 hours one way (10 hrs total trip) to try it on. When I got to the bridal boutique, they had pulled the dress and put it on a manikin for me – it was the first thing I saw when I walked up the stairs. I swear seeing it in person was everything short of the heavens opening up and a spotlight shining down on it and angels singing LOL I was so excited and terrified at the same time to try it on, because I was afraid it would look hideous on me and I didn’t think there would ever be another dress I would like as much as it. The moment I put it on and looked in the mirror though, I felt even more in love with it. At that moment, there was zero doubt in my mind that I had found MY dress. I couldn’t stop smiling like an idiot and saying Oh my God, I love it, it’s so perfect!! 😍😍
I am crossing my fingers for you and sending lots of good vibes that you have the same experience!!

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to afford my dream dress. All the ones I liked were $6,000 or more.

No I’m not but I thought about trying on more dresses there before I put my dream dress on. My wedding is 10/02/2021 and I thought I had until January to start shopping but everyone is telling me to go now because COVID is delaying things. The thing is my MOH is 38 weeks pregnant and her opinion is the only one I trust. I really want her to be there because she’s honest. I don’t trust anyone else to tell me the truth if they think I love it then they’re going to tell me I look great even if I don’t. So it’s either now or have her FaceTime for the appointment and I’d much rather her be there.

I went through this exact same thing! I found a dress, fell in LOVE, and had to find a boutique that carried the designer so I could get it shipped there to try on. I tried on a few others but it did in fact end up being my wedding dress! So excited for you! If you love it that much to find somewhere to try it on, I'm sure it's special Smiley smile Let us know how it goes!

This was EXACTLY my situation. I saw the dress online and knew it was the one. I called a million stores and they didn’t have it. The last one I called said they can have it shipped to them but I’d have to pay for the shipping but if I loved the dress that whatever I paid would go towards it. I had no problem doing it because I just knew it was the one. I loved it on the hanger. I loved it when I tried it on and I loved it even more for my first fitting with the customizations I made. Trust your gut girl !!!

I had a dream dress when I first started planning. It was on a sketch website so I had it custom made. When I received it, it was nowhere close to what it was supposed to be. I returned it and got a refund. "Dream dress" left my vocabulary after that and I just went shopping in the hopes I'd find anything. I was interested in a few dresses but they were ball gown so I waited because it wasn't exactly what I was looking for.

Found a sheath dress (same silhouette as what my dream dream was) and bought it but had immediate dress regret. After that, I took to online and found my dress. It's a fit and flare, pre owned but never worn/tag still attached. I didnt get to try it on beforehand but when I received it, I just knew. I'm so glad I made that purchase. After 5 months, I tried it back on and had the same feeling!!

I fell in love with a dress online, stalked it to a trunk show in NYC, and made an appointment at that salon and another one (earlier in the day) so that I had an idea of dresses before I tried *it* on. I was so nervous when I tried it on (It was the last dress of the day...so maybe like #14?). I wept hideously horrible tears because I LOVED it on me and knew it was the one. Mom cried, bridesmaid cried, I cried some more. I think I'm definitely in the minority though Smiley xd

I fell in love with a dress online in March. Fast forward to August when I tried dresses on, I noticed one of the salons I had an appt at posted this dress on Instagram a week prior! It was fate that I was going to get to try my dream dress on 😍 I walked in, knew I wanted to try that style number, the ladies pulled it for me and made me try it on last. I liked several dresses and had a few serious contenders but the second I put my dress on I knew it! The dress I had just short of stalked online for months is the dress I’ll be walking down the aisle in! Sometimes you see it online and ya just know! Best of luck to you, I so hope it works out 🤗
