Dominican Republic Destination Wedding

Jannie, on February 1, 2020 at 6:34 AM Posted in Planning 0 7
Hey guys! So im getting married May 02, 2020 in Dominican Republic. We have 70 guest and we are staying in Paradisus Punta Cana. At first I was going to have my wedding at the resort but once I started researching more, I did not like the idea of an all inclusive resort wedding-they would have other weddings at once, not much leeway on decor, time limit for reception to end and how I pictured my wedding, etc. i then stubbled upon Jellyfish Restaurant which is an outside venue. I completely fell in love! Its exactly what I wanted-I decided exact decor I want- a rustic wedding with my colors (the worked in every aspect of what I dreamed my wedding to be) no time limit, my wedding would be the only one and its such a beautiful venue. It also came out to be a little cheaper than having it at Paradisus. So I decided to have it there.

3 months before the wedding I am now confused as to what my guest think. Many believe the wedding is at the resort not a different place although this is clearly stated on the invitation and wedding website. Is it weird for us to have everyone come together at one resort but the wedding took in another venue (transportation will be provided and its only 10 minutes from the resort). I keep getting confused looks when someone asks me and I tell them the wedding is not at the resort. Was it too much to have them go to the resort then go to another venue for the wedding?

Who cares? Outs your day and if your vision is to to it else where them thirty will bed to be happy with it. I don't think it's had. Maybe remindthem it's going to be elsewhere

First, congratulations! I’m glad you found a venue that you love and I’m sure your wedding will be beautiful. Second, I don’t think it’s confusing at all. I think it’s very considerate that you’re providing transportation for your guests and you chose a venue in very close proximity to the resort.

Are people upset they didn’t get to chose the resort they’re staying at? Sounds like you changed the venue after people booked so if that’s the case there’s nothing you can really do about it but if you asked people to stay at a specific resort when the wedding has nothing to do with that resort I can see why some would be confused/upset.

No I chose both at the same time. I just told everyone where we were staying and gave the option of either staying with us (making it like a family vacation). I think people are confused because destination wedding in Dominican Republic are usually in the same resort you are staying in

We told everyone where we were staying so we can all stay together and make it a huge vacation. It would be no fun me going to a destination wedding and only seeing the bride and groom on their actual wedding day and staying elsewhere

Gotcha well sounds like people may just need to be reminded of the plan as time gets closer. Definitely not a big deal if you’re providing the transportation! Hope you have blast!
