Doing your own nails for your wedding?

Dana, on August 11, 2013 at 1:08 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 20

So after playing around for a while I have decided to do my own nails for my wedding. I did a trial run today and my neighbor said she'll help me the day before so they are done. The first picture is the effect I was going for. The second picture is my attempt.

Commend you on your attempt which is very good. However, I am getting mine done professionally.

I thought about that too. I have a whole nail kit I use when I do my nails. But the only reason I think I'll get mine done is the pampering. Its one less thing to stress about and its a time to relax and just enjoy! I figure right before the wedding will be the craziest.

I'm a massage therapist, so fake nails is a no-go. I'm only painting my nails, & I have a specific color scheme - silver color & sparkle on top. I am actually considering getting a mani treatment, but bringing in my own colors. I'm terrible at doing them myself, I make loads of mess & easily screw it up. Someone else doing my nails for me I think will feel good.

BTW, gorgeous how yours came out

@narfina and Jesska - thanks! I was thinking about having my nails done but my natural nails are long and very strong so why ruin them for one day. I'm not on to wear nail polish but I can for one day I can.

That's your real nails? Holy hell, I'm so jealous lol. Back when I was growing out my nails, I could never get them to look that great.

I always try to grow my nails out and then I'll get that one nail that breaks and ruins it all! haha But the nails do look gorgeous!

My girls and I did our nails ourselves the night before, it was part of our girly sleepover. It wasn't something that I cared that much about, so it wasn't high on my priority list. For my brother's wedding we paid a girl to come in and do all the girls nails and the MOH and I honestly figured we could have done just as well or better, ourselves. For the other wedding I was in, I paid a ludicrous amount for my manicure, just to wreck it while setting up for the wedding.

Aww thanks guys! Yes those are my nails..it took 33 years for me to stop biting them..lol. I always keep a nail hardner on them just as a top coat and I've only had one nail break once in the last 6 months.

Same idea I was thinking of using for my nails for my wedding. Looks good. I don't have the patients to sit and do mine myself so I going to get mine done for me

On a day to day basis I don't pay anyone to do anything for me that I can do myself. BUT, for my wedding I'm not doing a darn thing myself.

If I could do nails like you, I would do them myself! I think they look great. But I will be getting mine done professionally because if I did my own they would like a 3rd grader did my nails. In fact a 3rd grader might even do better than me.

I am a mani addict. I get one every two weeks especially since I got engaged. Every attempt I do I think they look nice for a minute then I manage to crap them up instantly. I always go with the gel and it lasts and looks great! $25 is worth it!

I am trying to save as much as I can on all the little things so nails is one thing I have considered. However, I don't want to be dealing with nailpolish bc of the messiness lol so I though maybe I could use those stick-on designs. Not the fake plastic nails, but more like sticker thingies lol

I think your attempt looked even better than the one you were going for! Great job! I'm probably getting mine professionally done because I have never had a mani before, and now is the time to do it!

I'll have the mani/pedi done by someone professionally for sure. Eyebrows and lashes too.

I have cut corners on a lot & chose to DIY. But I won't be DIY, my hairstyle, my nails, my eyebrows nor my waxing. I might DIY my makeup, I'm still undecided.
