Does my Maid of Honor need to walk with a Groomsman?

Mrs. Henri, on March 16, 2011 at 11:04 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

Maybe I'm all old fashion, but all I can remember growing up was watching the maid of honor carry the bride's dress. The maid of honor was the bride's right hand and didn't do anything but stick by the brides side. Is this necessary anymore? I'm trying to decide if bridal parties must be even in number, meaning every guy has a girl OR is it ok to be off by a number. Thanks Ladies!!

I am a wedding planner and today it pretty much works the same way you watched it growing up she does not have to walk down the aisle with a groomsmen during the processional but should walk with the best man for the recessional. Its not necessary to have an even number in the wedding party but it looks better when you have paired couples walking back down the aisle together but if you choose so thats ok to. I hope that this helps!!!

I hope its ok to be off on numbers or else I'm screwed. I have 2 BM and 1 MOH, he has 3 GM and 1 best man (1 of my bridesmaid decided to back out b/c she will be 8 months pregnant). I think uneven is ok. Oh at least I hope so.

All the weddings i have been to, the MOH walked by herself to the alter and then walked with the best man back up

Everybody pretty much answered. THE MOH walks by herself & walks out with the Best Man after the wedding.

Yes, it's still pretty much the same! She is still the right hand person to the Bride! She is suppose to hold the ring, your bouquet while you & hubby to be exchange rings, fix your dress after you light the candles, etc.....

My date is Feb 8th, 2015, & have 2 moh's, he has 2 best men, and 6 each for bridesmaids & groomsmen. I'm just not sure how everyone is going to feel being that my 2 moh's are married, so I don't know if they are going to feel uncomfortable walking down with the best men rather than their own hubby. I'm not sure how to work this one. :/
