Does everyone at the wedding need champagne flutes??

Kristina, on January 21, 2020 at 1:33 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 12
Would it be weird if we had our guests toast with wine glasses or clear plastic cups? No one that I know really drinks champagne so I think it's kind of a waste to purchase flutes for everyone or am I totally off base?

We did our toasts with whatever drink people had. We only bought flutes for us bc they were personalized.

Not at all! We initially considered doing a specific champagne toast at the wedding, but then realized whoever wants a drink will already have one, and saved ourselves a little $$ by just toasting with whatever drinks people already had. My husband and I did have a glass of champagne for each of us, which was a special touch, but none of the guests seemed to be missing out on not having one big, unified champagne toast Smiley smile

People can toast with whatever drink they can, if you don't want to have a champagne toast.

I am doing personalized flutes for the whole head table but for everyone else we are just going to let them toast with whatever they’re drinking.

Our bar package has champagne for the bridal party only, so our flutes are included with that. If no one else ia drinking champagne, then save your money!!

We purchased disposable champagne glasses on Amazon for really cheap - came with about 70 glasses and we only need about 50. They're actually reusable if we want and recyclable. We'll have a glass at each place setting and a bottle of champagne at each table, as well as a bottle of sparkling cider for those who don't like champagne (and for the kiddos).

I think people can toast with whatever they have on hand, though. That seems to be pretty common. Honestly nobody likes champagne in the whole world except for me apparently so it may be a waste buying it for everyone, but oh well! Smiley xd There are very few occasions that call for champagne. I'm going to take full advantage! Smiley heart

I agree with Cherry. Our group of guests enjoy sparkling wine over Champagne. Since we are having sparkling wine, we're getting disposable champagne flutes online as well. But generally speaking, guests can toast to whatever they are drinking in that moment.

Our venue includes a champagne toast with our catering package. So, they provide the flutes for that. Check with your venue to see if they have something like that. It wasn't obvious in my contract, though. I had to ask.

Our package has a champagne toast for everyone so I thought about buying special ones for the bridal party (the venue will provide though if I don't) but I don't know that I will because no one is big champagne drinkers.

If anyone is toasting with champagne it needs to be in a flute or champagne glass.

Our venue purchased champagne glasses so we didn't have to worry about them! But I think its fine for guests to toast with whatever they have.
