Does anyone else wish they could wear more fancy dresses since wedding dress shopping?

Tina, on February 28, 2019 at 7:35 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 40

Since I've been shopping for my wedding gown and on websites with evening gowns and cocktail dress it makes me wish I lived a life where I had occasions to wear those type of dresses. I wear gym clothes for work and on the weekends its leggings or jeans. My FH is a blue collar jeans and t-shirt guy and thinks if Im wearing a cheap sundress from target that I'm "dressing up". We don't live a life where we have events to wear fancy clothing, but damn I wish I did! I see so many gorgeous stunning dresses I wish I could have but there is no sense in buying and not wearing. Anyone else? Or is it just me. Smiley laugh

Yes! And I've been finding any excuse to dress up since getting engaged, haha. I'm already looking for bridal shower dresses and bachelorette outfits and wedding weekend outfits, then if course the honeymoon. Smiley smile

Haha I couldn’t relate more! Walking into those bridal salons seeing these beautiful sparkly dresses like “ this would be nice for the gala I’m not invited to” 😂

YES! Because boho is more my personal style but didn’t fit our wedding(s) I really want an occasion to get a white boho dress from BHLDN! I mean, who doesn’t need an $500-$800 dress for wine tasting or a girls’ brunch???? 😁

Sometimes, I'm pretty casual and I have a dog. So fancy dresses wouldn't really fit into my life style.

I’ve been guarded and methodical about my clothes since I first learned I had the freedom to do so.

Yes, for everyday, I’m a jeans and peasant top girl or a yoga pant and tank top when it’s warmer.

But because I was teased for being fat, I remained extremely cautious, choosy and consumed with buying only clothing that put me in the best light. And when I lost all the weight, I remained equally picky. Suddenly it wasn’t just about finding a dress that fit me in the store(and thanking God) but which was the best dress in the store for me and if I don’t have other stores to check.

I never really got taller or wider after all that pain. So over the years I carefully curated a collection or dressy, evening and formal attire with some pieces that are well over 18 years old and still look good.

Looking at French women and how they plan their wardrobe out like generals planning to go to war 10 years out, I think every woman deserves to have a collection of clothes she can fit to any occasion. Or just slip into when she needs to feel good or desirable.

Go go find those fancy clothes! Treat them like pieces in an art gallery! Put your favorite dress on, sip some wine, and dance to your favorite song! Haven’t we all earned the right to feel comfortable in our own skin?

I’m a teacher and my fiancé is in the army. I bought one dress for a school dance and one for our first army ball. I bought an amazing dress for our second army ball but it got canceled so it’s just been sitting in my closet. So disappointing.

2nd marriage for us both. So I have been looking at cocktail dresses as well. I have seen some wedding dresses without a train. Feel funny with a wedding dress since it's a 2 nd marriage.

Yes!! I’m actually looking at another wedding dress that’s more “fancy”! I have been looking for any reason to dress up since getting engaged. I have also been looking at dresses for all my parties and for our honeymoon when we go out for dinner!!

Don’t you dare feel funny with a wedding dress. 😘 You deserve to feel fabulous and celebrate your love & marriage in a sexy mermaid or princess ball gown with a loooong train if you wish. Some 2nd time brides had a courthouse wedding and get the princess wedding they always wanted this time around. It was my 1st wedding but in my mid 40’s I wondered for a quick second if I was “too old” for a ball gown... NOPE. I wore one. 😁

We are grease stained Carhartt's gathered around a campfire kinda people, however, we still get dressed up a couple times a year and will go out. We have friends the same way so we make an evening of it.

If it's something you want then do it! No need to have a reason other than "because I want to!".

Yes! I never ever wear dresses (even casual ones) unless there is a special occasion, but now I want there to be a special occasion every month to be able to wear a dress. I can't justify buying a dress for only a one-time wear, so I'm going to rewear the crap out of all my dresses (except for the wedding gown) on our honeymoon! And then I'm going to borrow the dress my sister is wearing as my MOH to attend a wedding the month after ours haha
