Does an officiant get a boutineer?

squirmypickles, on April 7, 2010 at 1:33 PM Posted in Planning 0 28

My florists said that the officiant gets a boutineer. What are you ladies doing? Is your officiant getting a boutineer? I kinda thought that he didn't need one but now I don't know.

I don't know for sure but I just looked at a few pics of weddings and in all of them the officiant has a boutineer.

I've never noticed it at any wedding. Mine didn't have one (then again he was a catholic priest.) Save your $$ and skip it.

Most weddings I've been to, the officiant had a bout. However, I'm not getting our officiant one b/c I know how he is. He always says "I paid too much money for this suit to let you poke holes in it" LOL! So I won't bother.

Officiant should not receive a boutonniere if they are a minister, pastor, priest, Rabbi, etc.

But if they are just a friend that has been ordained then they should wear one.

Also, if the officiant has a spouse or significant other- they should wear a boutonniere or a corsage.

Of course- this is not 100% necessary but is always nice and would the polite thing to do.

If you need more advice on flowers please check out my website. Hope this helps.

Our florist told us that they usually dont, so I'm going with her better judgement

It's a pleasant surprise on the rare occasions I'm given a corsage. I like flowers, but am not heartbroken if I don't get one.

It's a 50/50. I am always surprised and honored to accept one, but I never expect one.

It's a sweet thought, but I actually rather like to disappear! I doubt that your officiant would feel slighted if you didn't arrange for one.

I'm not doing one. But that's simply because we don't know the officiant and he's already getting paid a hefty sum to be there. I think if we actually knew him, we probably would.

I do not feel slighted if I don't receive a corsage, but I have been given one to wear on several occasions. I thought it was a sweet gesture and was grateful to be remembered. I dried each of them and they are in my office now.

Never even thought about this one. Good post. The person that we're using is a woman that neither of us have ever seen before. In the pictures on her website, she is wearing a robe and doens't have a corsage on any of those pics.

Great question! Our pastor is my good friends dad that I've known for years so I will be getting him one now! Thanks for reminding me!

I have never even thought about this one. We are getting married at my church and I know the pastor really well so I think I will add this to the list.
