Doctor Who Wedding Theme!!

So Doctor Who has been a big part of FH's and my relationship, so we have been thinking of doing a Doctor Who themed wedding! We originally had said fall themed, but with that, I feel like I'm the one taking full control of the wedding and FH seems disinterested with the decisions and thoughts. My mom thought it was really tacky and didn't want to pay for the wedding if it was Doctor Who, but I explained to her that I don't want it to go too over the top since I am a simple tasted person. I think I finally wore her down about it today to just let the wedding theme be focused on us and not what she wants since it's our wedding! I feel like a champion now!

    You can do a Doctor Who theme without it being tacky. BTW: I love Doctor Who! You can have A Doctor Who cake, TARDIS centerpieces, BMs dresses in blue. I could go on. LOL

    Recently I have seen a whole bunch of Dr.Who themed weddings. I am sure there is a whole bunch of non-tacky inspiration on Pinterest.

    Way to go for standing your ground btw, my mother completely took control of my wedding and it looks like a leprechaun vomited gold and glitter everywhere.

    There are a couple of brides (Elle is one for sure) who have/had a Dr. Who wedding. If you retitle your thread, you might get their notice!

    I think it's a cool idea and you will probably be introducing someone, or several someones to Dr. Who...and how can THAT be a bad thing? Smiley winking

    Don't be too hard on mom. I doubt she was ever truly serious about pulling the funding for your wedding. In fact, she probably would have paid for a reconstruction of that blue police box thing if that's what her little girl wanted and she could fit it into the budget. Say the word "wedding" to a mom, and her planning starts immediately. Her issue was probably based in her age -- she's older than you and is probably concerned that you will look at your wedding photos in 20 years and find them to be too themed by a program that has long since passed into obscurity. It's fine. All wedding photos look dated as the decades pass -- no bride gets around it. I'm glad you got what you wanted.
