Do you take completed items OFF your registry?

Kylene, on August 29, 2014 at 2:48 PM Posted in Planning 0 8

So my shower was last weekend and I just got around to getting on my registry and making sure all of the items I received were up-to-date (in store purchases that they didn't say were for a registry).

This made me think about whether, as I update my registry from time to time, I should be removing the completed items or do you just leave everything on there the entire time?

Thoughts? My first inclination is just to leave everything on there and not mess with it, but is it easier for peeps if they don't have to fish through all of the checked off/completed items and are only shown the ones that are still available for purchase?

Edited for grammar.

BBB usually filters all purchased ones to the bottom. or has a notation. i'd leave them so people see what else you've received. in case they want to buy off registry and can avoid duplicates.

@AndixLyn, didn't think of that. Good call. Macy's is great and puts a big red check mark next to purchased items. Crate and Barrel isn't so awesome. they gray it out slightly but you can't necessarily tell. They are the one I was more considering updating but it's the smaller registry without much on it so I don't think I'm going to worry about it.

I'd leave them up so people don't buy you multiple of the same gift. I threw a baby shower not to long ago that had an Amazon registry and it automatically took it off their registry. The couple knew what we got them off Amazon before they even had the baby shower. Smiley amazing

Leave the items on your registry in case you need to return/exchange them. If you don't have a receipt the store will still be able to accept the item if it is on your registry Smiley smile

Leave them on so others know what you have gotten. Some places also offer an incentive for people buying off your registry. For us, we registered at Kohls. We get in store credit of 10% back on each item bought from our registry.

Sometimes ppl forget to actually give the registry to the cashier to make sure it is taken off the list and duplicates are given, if you already have the item i would take it off, ot at least maybe look and update it later

I took everything off our registry that was purchased. I have receipts for everything we received so won't have to worry about that. It was too much to look at and bbb didn't sort it or put anything on the bottom. I edited the shit out it ours the other day bc it was all really random stuff left that didn't make sense anymore lol. :-)

If you already have the item in hand I would take it off the registry if it didn't happen automatically. Otherwise someone may by it again.

And I also have an amazon registry. While I know I'll be able to see who bought things I'm going to resist looking until I actually receive a gift! (Or at least I'm going to try to)
