Do you send invites and STDs to immediate family?

Should I send invites and STDs to people like my sisters, mother, FH's parents, brother and sister?

Yep, sure did. I think it's appropriate to do so even if you already know they're coming to the wedding. Plus, they may want it as a keepsake. My mom does!

Yup-it's proper etiquitte. I mean you dont really have to send your mom an invite to the wedding -she knows about it, but you still send it out. unless your wedding is super casual..heck, then you can just do e-vites

They are likely to want one to show others and for a keepsake.

I had plenty extras so I did. I wouldn't think it was a "must" but since you typically order them in bulk, I would give them one..it's a nice gesture!

Absolutely, you do. Think of it this way: you send me an invite, complete with RSVP. But I just KNOW that you know I'm going to be there, so why fuss with this stupid little card that came with the invitation? Or why should I bother to phone or email? After all, you KNOW I'm coming. Not very nice, is it?

It works the same way with extending invites to immediate family. Sure, you know they're coming, they know they're coming, but they still need to be formally invited.

Keep in mind that an invitation will also give them important information. Time of ceremony, recepetion location/map, entree choice in some cases. I had a little fun with it myself. my sister has a PHd so i addressed it to Dr. Jane Doe, Big Sister-Maid Of Honor extrodinaire. She got a kick out of it.

Absolutely since they are definitely invited.

you would not give someone a save the date that you will eventually put on your b or c list though...........

    funny, but it's happened!!!

I asked a similar question earlier this week - everyone who attends gets an invitation. We are sending one to our friend that is marrying us. If you have a List A & List B - the Save-the-dates are going to the List A guests only

This is a funny one we sent STD's to everyone we were planning on inviting including my mother. The next thing I heard for her was oh I guess I'm just a guest now thats way you sent me a STD. I had to explain to her that it was out of respect.

Funny you should ask this. I did, and they were like. Why are you sending us an invite, of course we will be there. And I said, well, didn't know if you wanted to see what the invites looked like - or wanted one to keep.

I did! I sent an invite to everyone coming. Sometimes people like to make special framed keepsakes with a space for the invite, a program, and your wedding photo...

I sent STDs and invites to everyone invited. Even the people in the bridal party and our officiants got them. If nothing else they get a pretty piece of paper with all the important information on it. I've been over to my officiants' house several times since I gave them the invite and they have it pinned up to board above their kitchen table.
