Do you pay for your bridal parties hair/makeup?

Lauren, on February 9, 2017 at 3:41 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 33

Hi, I am searching for vendors for my hair/makeup and was surprised at how expensive they can be. I did not budget appropriately. My question is, as the bride are you supposed to pay for your bridal parties hair and makeup? Is that etiquette? I have been in weddings where I paid for those services so I am not sure what to do. Thanks all.

Only if you require it! I made it optional for my girls so they can choose to pay for it or do their own!

Hi Lauren! If you are requiring that all of your bridesmaids have professional hair and makeup done, then you need to foot the bill! If you want to make it optional so that the bridesmaids can choose to do their own or pay to use your professional team then that's totally fine!

For the reasons listed by PP, I am not requiring my ladies have any specific make-up or hairstyle. I don't wanna pay for that shyyyyaaaaat, because you're right, it's super expensive!

I've had to pay for mine the last 2 weddings. My bridesmaids are paying for their own. (All the same girls as last 2 weddings I should say)

I am paying for my BMs hair and makeup but it's not necessary if you're not requiring them to get it done.

I'm paying for my girls. But I will say that it was a shock when I told my friends I would be paying. Literally, every other person in my bridal party said any other wedding they've been in they had to pay for their own hair and makeup. It was not an option.

I'm paying for my 3 bms. Both make up and hair. 2 of mine don't wear makeup and wouldn't know what to do so it will be easier this way for them. I say if you can afford it then do it. The HMUA can create a really nice cohesive look that the girls may not be able to do otherwise.

I asked my bridesmaids before I started looking for someone foe hair and makeup if they would be interested on having it done professionally. Once, I found the perfect person I told them the price and gave them the option of doing it with that person or somewhere else.

I've never paid for hair and makeup for a wedding if the bride required it. If the bride didn't, I did it myself.

We paid for hair but let the girls choose whether they wanted to use the MUA I hired for my makeup or do their own, so they paid for it if they wanted it done.

I was beyond shocked how much makeup and hair was. I couldn't believe it. But I'm not requiring any of my girls to get their hair and make up done. But the ones that are choosing to get either service or both are paying for themselves since I'm not requiring it. Their personal choice.

You pay if you require them to have it done professionally. It is optional, then you do not need to cover the cost.

We are paying for all the ladies (BMs, mom's, FG, and RB) to get their hair done) because I wanted everyone to enjoy that experience together. I asked if anyone was interested in using the MUA I was hiring for myself and let them know what the cost would be. One BM and my mom was interested.

I'm paying for my BM hair, they're on their own for makeup though. I'm somewhat letting people pick their hairstyle, but I still want it all cohesive so they get final say. My hairstylist is super affordable though, which I've found is not normally the case. She's only charging $25 each, so for me, my BMs (6 total) and my mom it will only be $200!

I would also pay for their makeup, but since I'm not having mine professionally done, I'm not requiring anyone else's to be.

Since we are on the topic of hair and makeup what is the average cost for y'all?

I am paying for the cost or hair and makeup for my girls, which is $150 per bridesmaid. They all agreed to pay for the tip for the services. I asked them each personally prior to making final arrangements. All of them have had to pay for these services in the past for other weddings and were more than happy to pay the tip, which should be about $30 for hair/makeup per bridesmaid.
