Do you pass the 2.25 inch rule? (Post Wedding Chop or anyone with short hair)

Ostrich, on August 3, 2015 at 1:49 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 22

@Kala looks amazing with short hair and reminded me my deadline for my chop is coming up. I always knew I'd wait til mid August because my sister's wedding is coming up and I'm not trying to get too crazy.

Someone I worked with sent me this, which means with my strong jaw and huge head that's a no-go. Curious if people with short hair fit the test?

The 2.25 inch Rule: Place a pencil under your chin horizontally. Then place the ruler under your ear, vertically. The intersection of the pencil and ruler indicates a measurement. If it is less than 2.25' - go for the chop

ETA i don't expect people to use this test to decide lol, just wondering if people with short hair do fit it?

    Wait...what?

you have a deadline to cutting your hair?

I just trust my stylist to cut my hair to best suit my face, I've never heard of this.

Not deadline, I guess start date? I knew I wouldn't do a chop until after my sister's wedding in 2 weeks

Haha, I definitely did not do that before cutting my hair Smiley smile But I think I would probably pass it, since I have a pretty square face.

LOL! I didn't do that, but I cut the relaxer out of my hair last week. It was never really long, but now It's super short & curly. I'm trying to get used to it!

I trust my stylist - easiest to walk in and say make my hair pretty, usually with a request to chop it all off. Besides, if I don't like it, it will always grow back.

I trust my stylist as well, but my stylist won't tell me to chop it all off unless I ask her to, and even then she would probably just follow my instructions. Maybe I'll start with a shoulder level chop and go from there

This is as short as I ever go and this is how long I have it now. I have no plans to grow it out in the next year for the wedding, either. I'm hoping I'll look even better after I start going to the gym and getting rid of my triple chin.

E=mc2: I think you would look super cute with a bob or shoulder length straight hair.

That's since my face is as far up as it goes while still looking normal. Seriously though, I usually go with my chin tucked in very close and so my double chin is very visible. My chins are the reason I am joining a gym in the first place. But thanks for your kindness.

    Here's a reference for y'll!

I can't wait to chop! And yes I definitely just measured. In my office. I was so glad no one walked by haha! I am approved for a chop. I only have like an inch. Do your ears hang low? :-D

After looking like an idiot at work.... I'm going to just trust my hair stylist. Honestly, he knows my hair and can tell me what will/won't work. I know short hair doesn't typically work for me because my hair gets more curly/volumonous/frizzier the shorter it goes.... less weight I guess.

I just tried it! I have a very round (read: fat) face but 2.5 inches from chin to bottom of ear. I do look cute with short hair, but I've never gone shorter than chin length. My favorite on me is the length in my avatar, just a few inches below my shoulders.

I'm seriously contemplating on getting out of bed to see if I pass. I've had my hair all lengths over the years. It's been short and spikey and it's currently pass my bra strap.

I had chopped my hair into an a-line bob and it was soo cute! This was when I was like 20-21. Before I did that I was blonde, long hair (mostly extensions). My stylist was amazing (RIP- she died last year at age 29. She was diagonsed with cancer in April and was gone by November Smiley sad ) ! So, my hair ALWAYS looked great and real. Lol.

She one day decided to chop her hair and I fell inlove with the look and I without even thinking about it twice asked her to give me the same do. About a week later I decided to go back to a brunette.

Ever since then I have only died my hair once and it was just some highlights (bright red and blonde- but in random spots in the back of my hair so it didn't look so crazy). I now have my natural color brunette color and my hair is soo long! I am soo sick of it and cannot wait until I can do my post-wedding chop! I actually just found out my MOH is waiting to cut her hair too until after my wedding! She has super long hair and wants to cut it, but even though I am not making them wear their hair any particular way, she wants to keep it long just in case I ask for them last minute to do long curls or an up-do (which I wouldn't).

The only thing I am a little worried about is my side bangs. I am letting them grow out to get them ready for my a-line (IMO it looks better when your bangs are long with that cut), but for my wedding I want to trim my bangs for the hair style I am planning on doing. So, I don't know if I want to trim them and wait for them to grow out long enough for another 2 months so I can get the cut and have it look exactly how I want it. I have been waiting for soo long to get this cut. I know 2 months will fly, but I am dying to cut it...

Ugh I don't know what to do... trim and wait for the post wedding chop or just try to figure out a hair style with the length of my bangs now...
