Do you know what a Tab card is used for?

I am looking at wedding invitations and most include an optional tab card. I have no idea what it is and if I need it. Nothing helpful on Google. Figured I would ask the experts!

It seems to be a card for the front of a pocketfold, with just the couple's names and the date on it:

We didn't have one.

If you order a sample prior to completing your final order I would ask to see the sample with it if it would come at no additional cost. Gives you something to consider.
